“Bank Holiday Trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2013

We stayed at the Alma Lodge this bank holiday as we wanted to explore Stockport and the lovely Lyme Park just outside of Stockport. We had a lovely time and the staff at the Alma lodge were fantastic. Would definitely stay there again.

thank you to all the staff at Alma Lodge for making our son and daughter-in-laws wedding so special,-- in particular wedding arranger Clair and toastmaster Graham would made the whole day perfect from the ceremony to wedding breakfast to evening party and for those who stay over the morning breakfast can't be beaten ---- We would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel for any occasion, particularly for a wedding ---

This hotel is a fantastic place to hold a celebration. We attended a few years ago for a 30th wedding anniversary and the food and service was excellent. We have just had our granddaughters wedding there and again excellent food, service and the room was decorated beautifully. I can highly recommend this hotel although as a hotel I haven't stayed, but based on food and ambience for parties I am sure it would meet anyones standards whatever the reason for use. Well done Alma Lodge.

Our wedding, planned in just 3 weeks and held at the Alma Lodge was faultless. From the ceremony, wedding breakfast and reception the staff were nothing short of perfect. The food was great both for the wedding breakfast and reception buffet.

With just 3 weeks to plan the wedding (and all the planning handed over to my best man) The Alma Lodge couldn't have been more helpful, thoughtful and supportive and without their help the wedding would not have happened. They thought of everything and delivered our dream wedding. Even if we had have spent 18 months planning it wouldn't have been better.

Thank you to all your staff who made our special day perfect. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Alma Lodge as a wedding venue and hotel. Our room and breakfast were fine and the staff at breakfast, just like throughout the wedding day were great.

My husband and I checked into this hotel on Thursday to attend a wedding the next day. I booked a superior room and I was very pleased, the room was spotless very light and airy and a nice bathroom with shower and a bath, a real luxury these days, and there was lashings of hot water to sooth away our journey. We opted for a bar snack that first night and our sandwiches were fresh tasty served with a little side salad. I found the bar prices to be quite expensive I don't drink but a small glass of lemonade was a bit steep at £1:80. Back to our room and the bed was perfect for us, firm but not at all hard. We had a a very quiet night and awoke refreshed for our breakfast. There was a choice of continental or a cooked english breakfast delicious! The staff could not do enough for us, very friendly with a wealth of information about the local area. The wedding reception was held here. The venue was so romantic with candlelight and crystals in the centre of the tables. Our food was hot and delicious, very promptly served with alternatives for the children of chicken coujons of chicken and chips, I would highly recommend this hotel wonderfully relaxing and good service with competative price.

Room Tip: I did not see a standard room but the superior room we booked was excellent value. I was told that s...

Very clean, comfortable & pleasant hotel. Recently spent two nights in family room (three beds) to attend a funeral nearby. Room was in modern section of hotel & was cold on arrival, but soon warmed up. Bathroom was old-fashioned but very clean.Toilet flush was slightly dodgy. Breakfast very good & included in £65 per night for 3 of us!
Free wifi, tea & coffee in room. Public areas pleasant & comfortable.

Great value, traditional style hotel located on the A6 about 1.5 miles outside of Stockport. Loads of free parking, convenient for bus transport into Stockport (15 mins) or Manchester (about 40 mins-depending on traffic), with a bus stop immediately opposite the hotel and a very frequent service (No 192) running every few minutes.

Receptionists were very welcolming, friendly and efficient.

I stayed in an upgraded refurbished room - which was warm, clean and with reasonable decor, a comfortable bed, free wifi, tea & coffee facilities, work station area, good TV. The bathroom whilst not exactly stylish, served its purpose and was clean - the over bath shower was good and towels were fine.

The hot breakfast is freshly cooked to order and of good quality, there is a small selection of cold items from the buffet area - fruit salad or grapefruit, cereals and yogurts along with a selection of breads.

There is a bar and the restaurant serves dinner.

If you want a night out in Manchester - take the bus as the night service runs till about 4.00am the following morning and if you buy a Nightrider ticket (and as long as you travel back by about 3.00 you can go into Manchester & return for under £5.00) - saves on a taxi fare!
