Stayed here for a wedding nearby. Arrived about 6.00pm, should have done a bit more homework, as we hadn't realised that the pub next door was the nearest to dine in. It was a busy Friday night and it would have been worth booking a table had we know. Good friendly reception staff, who were happy to provide the requested additional tea bags . Breakfast good value for an all you can eat cooked breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main function areas for a quiet stay

We stayed Friday 15th & Saturday 16th Nov, having chosen this as a good striking out point to visit various friends scattered across the country.

Check in was speedy and friendly, the room was spotless and well equipped. Plenty of on site parking.

The adjoining restaurant serves every type of food imaginable in a buffet style restaurant for around £8 per adult.

We will definitely be staying again, and have just booked another Premier Inn for our trip to Yorkshire over Christmas.

We've stayed here a few times when visiting friends in the area
The staff are always friendly and welcoming
The rooms are always fresh and clean and the air con does actually work
the only down side is on the top floors you cannot open the windows but this is understandable
The free WIFI doesn't last long but at £10 for 2 days WIFI that's not too bad
The pub/restaurant that is on the ground floor of the hotel serves excellent food
A very pleasant stay overall and yes we will be returning again

Room Tip: Top floors fantastic views of Barnsley

A good stay, as per all my other Premier Inn reviews.

Same high standards of cleanliness, modern-ness and attentive staff etc. just as I always review.

wifi in room not great - at just 1Mb its not enough to Skype my kids at home - PI take note - you are tailoring to so many business travellers' needs, although being able to communicate with our families is being hindered. Please increase speed...

Just one issue - the room was cold and could not be turned any higher. After confirmation by a member of staff a heater was delivered to keep me warm.

Meal in the adjoining restaurant was pleasant.

The only down side is having to use the pay and display over the road - having to find the right change to feed the machine.

We were booked for two nights but cancelled the second and booked into the trusty Ramada Encore Inn just off the M1 with free parking, free wifi, and cheaper prices - breakfast is £7.00 and is a proper buffet (except early morning at the weekends). Now you can read why:
(Firstly absolutely no complaints about the staff - always helpful and pleasant)
Premier Inn has adverts that hype up their service. We thought we'd try them just for once. Our stay at the Premier Inn on November 1st coincided with the cleaning of the Car Park underneath the hotel and caused me much confusion as to where to park. A stressed journey because of a major diversion and poor weather became even more stressed and there was nothing in this hotel to unstress us.
There is the money saving system of checking in that requires someone to do it for you just like the self service tills in Supermarkets. Then there is the Ryanair style pricing - parking £3.50 for 24 hours (but if you go out and come back within that 24 hours you pay again). Then there is £3.00 for WiFi. Breakfast is either £5.25 or £8.25. The hotel brochure puffs - Premier Breakfast. Your Way. As much as you like - and makes it appear its an all you can eat buffet - well it is for the Continental but for the cooked you have to order, and so breakfast your way as much as you like requires you to ask for loads of food at one go. Otherwise if you want more you have to catch someone's eye and wait another fifteen minutes.I should have been warned when their silly advert shows ten hash browns on one plate - they really do mean if you want lots order it all in one go. I think guests should take them at their word and order ten hash browns, five eggs, fifteen rashers, twelve sausages etc, and see the reaction!
The so called fluffy pillows are just medium pillows (but better than Travelodge) and their rooms have no ventilation except air conditioning. They provide 1 teabag per person in the room which means if you haven't brought your own you have to go and ask for more.
Premier Inn is just good enough for an overnight if you can get it cheap enough - about £30 is all their worth -we paid about £79 including breakfast and parking. The attached restaurant is not exclusive to the hotel and is not cheap and a bit of a fancy trough.

Just enjoyed my sixth stay at Premier Inn Barnsley.. still no complaints!
Staff are very friendly, especially on reception, the rooms are always immaculate, I've always had a great nights sleep.
I've chosen to eat in the restaraunt in the hotel every time, love the open fires and some of the tables have great views.
Only problem is.. I feel a bit guilty that I should have explored some of Barnsley's other restaurant's!

Clean, modern, great location - perfect - title says it all really, very good stay for a night out in Barnsley. I had a stag there and staff were friendly and helpful. Even at 5am in the morning when I couldn't get into my room, it was resolved very swiftly. Would definitely use again.
