I always try to stay at Premier Inn's when I'm away on business, as you get a excellent hotel at a very reasonable price. This week's trip sent me to Barnsley, and the Premier Inn was a no-brainer. Was a bit dubious when I found out I had to pay for parking, but very happy when I could pay for it at Check in as the pay machines don't accept card.

The room was your standard Premier Inn room, but had been fairly recently upgraded. This night was a night with high winds, buy I was happy to be warm in my room all night. The restaurant was good (highly recommend the Mixed Grill), however there was the issue with the water going off (I'm assuming it was due to the inclement weather), but the night receptionist was doing everything she could to keep everyone informed while trying to sort out the problem, but didn't fail to keep a smile on her face, so Kudos to her for dealing with a stressful situation. The water was switched back on in the middle of the night.

The bed was comfortable (as per every other Premier Inn), and the breakfast was excellent. I had the Continental option as too many Full English's isn't great for the regular traveller. This was enough to fill me up :).

Overall, another excellent stay with Premier Inn.

Room Tip: Those facing the Plaza are quieter.

Good location, 24h check-in, friendly and helpful staff, clean spacious rooms. What's not to like for £53?
WIFI coverage is USELESS!! As a business traveller, this is critical. For that reason I cannot use this hotel again.

The staff at this Premier were really helpful and gave us every attention. However this is the first Premier I have been to where I was disturbed by other guests. It was a bit noisy.

There is a restaurant but in the evenings it turns into City Centre pub and when we arrived we were unable to get a seat there. Fine for Premier but not for us.
My main grudge is breakfast. There is no serve yourself and you have to order and so it turned up not quite how I liked it. Standards were a bit slack. I was not the only person searching for clean glasses, plates and cutlery. The breads were a bit tired and did not look fresh.

My recommendation if you have to spend more than a night in Barnsley id that you should stay at St Mary's Gate in Sheffield and commute.

Stayed here several times over last 18 months or so, this was a last minute family emergency trip so booked on same day, was a bit expensive but did expect it to be, friendly staff on arrival and quick check in, decorators on site but was aware of this because it was mentioned on the premier in website for this hotel. I did try the Glass House restaurant next door food was brilliant and recommended by the friendly bar staff, Chloe was the one on duty in the afternoon. Im back again in 2 weeks and again looking forward to a repeat performance

Nevver expect much from a budget chain but this hotel is really nice.
Arrived at about 7pm n was met by a delightful lady in reception who checked us in. Room was on the 3rd floor and heard no noise room the road outside apart from the loudest exhaust in the world. The pub next door was not to bad either. Typical pub menu but cooked nice n was fast getting to us luckily though as there were three massive parties just came in. All the staff were nice n friendly. Would definitely stay here again.
