“Best Meal I have had”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 January 2014

I go to restaurants with work quite often for lunch and dinner, but this is hands down one of the best meals I have had. I have already contacted them to go personally with my family. Try and book the private dining room for a party, and if it is a nice day move the after dinner cocktails and cigars outside on the veranda, it is absolutely heavenly and very peaceful.

We visited this restaurant with rooms as part of my husbands 50th birthday celebrations as he wanted to eat in a Roux restaurant. I booked the "Signature Experience" and from the moment we pulled up outside and the valet collected our bags and took the car we were made to feel special. The room whilst not large was luxuriously furnished with a four poster bed, a very modern bathroom, and excellent an view over the Thames. The experience included the tasting menu and what a feast it was, everything beautifully plated and amazing flavours. They had placed a birthday card for my husband on the table and after we had eaten Alain Roux came to speak to us. After a good nights sleep we were served a French breakfast in the room with butter pastries to die for. Expensive? No - you get exactly what you pay for at The Waterside. The attention to detail and service is exceptional. One to revisit.

We decided to go to the Roux brothers for our anniversary in December after strong recommendation. My husband booked the Signature experience which included the stay in the "Inn" and the Excellence menu. From the moment they park your car to bringing it back it was just superb service. It has an oldy Worldy atmosphere in the reception and lounge and the room was more modern and well equipped.
The restaurant reminded me of a Savoy Grill or something grandeur as that. The waiters were very attentive and your glass was filled up all the time. It was a long menu with lots of starters and a choice for mains. All the food was exceptional and very delicious . We like to eat with our eyes first and they did not disappoint. The MD came and wished us a happy anniversary ( he knows what's going on from the booking) and we got another glass of shampagne on the house. In the daylight it was a beautiful setting on the river and we would love to go again in summer. Breakfast is in the room with the finest of patisseries and delicious coffee. It was expensive but you do get a lot of courses and gifts and for a special occasion it is definitely something to try.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view on the river

Like other reviewers we decided to stay to avoid the drive home and to be able to really relax nad enjoy the experience.

The room was fine and fulfilled it's purpose and fairly luxurious the breakfast delivered to our room was lovely.

But the food was extraordinary. We always wanted to try a 3 Star and Heston's style does not appeal to us but this was great. We have stayed at Le Manoir as a comparison and various other top restaurants. We had the tasting menu and all the courses were superb we had the flight of wines which went perfectly. The service was also exceptional.

We will go back.

This review is for the hotel side of waterside inn since there is a different record for the restaurant.
We stayed at the Inn because we had booked a table for the evening and didn't fancy driving back for over an hour after a heavy meal. The staff were polite and engaging. There was some confusion when we arrived because you have to figure out where to park. The arrow points to a car park which you shouldn't use as in fact they operate a valet parking scheme. I found it odd that they don't give you the choice and even more odd that they insist on basically confiscating your keys for the rest of your stay.

The room we were given was the Nid Jaune. A nicely appointed room but with a slanted floor so you permamently feel you are on a cruise ship. I had experienced that before in the Cotswald - this is a feature of old house, but I 'm afraid that;s something that I find disturbing and stopped me from enjoying the stay there. Even more so because the bed was not fully levelled and so I kept rolling towards the edge throughout the night.

Breakfast however is to die for. Very crispy buttery pastries. Not for those on a diet but certainly the best pastries I have ever tasted.

This is the second time being at the waterside inn. The first time was about 6 years ago and like this time was in the cottage. The food is as far as I am concerned is the best there is and the staff are second to none. If you are thinking of splashing the cash then this is the place to do it.

As a fanatical food enthusiast, I have been to just about every restaurant of repute with the same number of Michelin stars as the Waterside Inn, but the food here is simply put, in its own league. The service and ambience is excellent.

Every course was extraordinarily delicious but the desert was... I don't think words can do justice in describing the dining experience. If you get an opportunity, just go, please for your palette, just go!
