“disappointing and upsetting”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2014

We went to sewerby hall we paid the entrance fee we was lucky to have a bogof voucher, we have a toddler who loved the play area last year but this it was closed for refurbishment which is strange as it only opened last year. The house was closed which was not made clear when we paid. We had a picnic in the grounds which was horrible with the loud noises coming from the workmen both inside the house and out. We then took our 2 year old into the zoo area which both myself and my husband found upsetting the penguins look very distressed and are living in a very small and unkept area. The goats look very sad with a few looking like they needed to see a vet. The monkies are living in a overgrown area which is sad. The only good thing was the land train which took us into bridlington..........

“Nice place to kill a few hours”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2014

Well worth a visit. I have only rated my visit 4 stars as the hall is currently closed for restoration. Also, some of the flower beds were empty due to the winter plants being removed in preparation for the summer ones to be planted. There is also a pleasant small zoo area mostly featuring birds but many varieties. Also it was good value for money.

“No information at the gate”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

Wet day on the Flamborough headland Lets take the children to Sewerby Hall; warm and dry there. Nothing at the gate to say the hall was closed, paid the entrance fee expecting to visit the Hall. Wandered around for a while before asking if the Hall was open. "No" was the reply "Its closed for refurbishment, there is a sign at the gate" Visited the "zoo". Sad little penguins in an enclosure far too small; lemur feeding time involved two members of staff having a conversation that did not involve the visitors who might have been interested in the lemurs. The building noise was uncomfortable and we left feeling let down. Asked again at the entrance. "No there isn't a sign"
Always enjoyed visiting Sewerby Hall in the past. Perhaps they should be more honest and properly close down whilst the work is ongoing.

“Lovely day out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

Nice place to visit, children's zoo a little old and tired looking but play park and gardens well maintained. You can get to Bridlington land train from the estate and buy a ticket for hall, etc plus land train, which is good value. Hall is being renovated at the moment so lots of workmen on site but still nice. You can leave the estates and return later, so good value. Lots of space to run around and picnic.
