Our favourite fish and chip shop and have driven to Bridlington just because we fancied some but will never go again - staff rude and could not be bothered to cook items ordered - fryer actually told server "I don't know how to cook it, just tell them we haven't got any!"- walked out in disgust. Such a shame as it has always been a fantastic fish shop.

I am from Hull so have been to Bridlington hundreds of times. And of course when you go to the seaside you MUST have fish and chips. Well, Brid has them by the bucketload so which to chose ? For us, it is always Captain Scott's. We get them takeaway and walk 60 yards to sit on the front and look out to sea. Always fresh fish with the lightest of batters. Great chips and good price too. Plus the staff are always friendly and polite. Lovely.

We ate in the cafe above the chip shop and ordered a mix from the menu - mainly fish & chips, one pie & chips and one chilli. All came with a couple of slices of bread & butter and a choice of tea, coffee or cordial.

The fish and chips was the best that any of us have eaten for ages while the steak and kidney pie actually had decent pieces of kidney in it (quite rare these days). The service was excellent and the whole place very clean.

All in all, thoroughly recommended!

There's numerous other chip shops in Brid, so you'll probably want to know that this one is just about opposite the John Bull rock shop which is on the front where the road bends back into town south of the fairground rides.

Had a portion of chips with mushy peas to take out today. Delicious! Very friendly staff. The chips were cooked fresh to order and well worth the 5 minute wait. Have eaten in the restaurant a couple of times too. Had the fish, chips, bread and butter & tea meal deal both times. 10/10 for quality and value.
