Yes, we love the new bathrooms too. This year we have put in 8 new bathrooms, 7 of which have full bath and walk-in shower. The Ground Floor will become the Garden Floor later in the year, all Garden Floor rooms have individual sitting space outside.

I took my grandchildren for an overnight stay, myself one 17 and a 6 & 7 year old. The hotel is situated in a lovely position on the promenade away from the busy harbour area. We were on the 4th floor with great views of the sea, the room had been refurbished, double bed, put up bed and small separate room with 2 bunk beds, bath and separate shower cubicle - it is the best family room I have stayed in.
I found the staff to be very helpful throughout our stay and also during the booking process as I made additions to the original Groupon offer to accommodate the 2 younger children.
We all had dinner in the hotel, I was a little disappointed - we had mushrooms in a white wine sauce which although nice were somewhat congealed. The main meal I found the food to be good but it was only just warm. The children's menu was restricted but the fish in batter was really good, however my other granddaughter had pizza, which was a square piece of pizza, dry with very little topping - it was not very nice and poor value at £4.95, she did not eat it. In their defence the staff were lovely but they had a function in and maybe it was difficult for them to cope and my experience was not the norm. Breakfast was lovely, it was hot and everything tasted delicious. The children's portions were huge, I didn't think they would eat it all but they did!!
My other observation was that they did not appear to cater for children in the lounge areas, I did not see anything that would occupy them - this was not a problem for us we only sat in for about an hour and we were only there for one night but if I were to stay longer it would have been.
I have tried to be fair in my observations and I would have allotted them 4 stars had it not been for the couple of things I have mentioned. The children and myself both enjoyed our stay and we would stay at the hotel if we returned to Bridlington.

Room Tip: Room 43 excellent for family with young children.

We are pleased that you liked your accommodation, There are a number of board games for children and adults in the Tudor Lounge. There is not a children’s play area, but when weather permits the beach and cliff walks outside are a perfect place to run off energy and stretch imaginations.

On arrival the receptionist was on the phone. When she finished she gave my husband a registration form to fill in. He filled that in and the receptionist had answered the phone and was taking a reservation so we had to wait again. Went up to the room which was next to room we had once before, had a lovely large bed. We went out for a meal and when we got back there was a band playing, there was some celebration going on. The music went on till almost midnight and I had to close the window as there were people just below out window standing outside the dinning room talking. At no point were we told we would be in a room that was above where there would be a band playing most of the night. The breakfast list said it would be cooked from fresh but I don't think that was correct as the sausage and the bacon was only just warm. Had I known about the sleepless night I would be getting I would'nt have booked. When I went to hand the key in on leaving there was no-one at reception so I could'nt say what I wanted to say about our stay.If you stay in room 14 the flush on the loo is'nt too good.

Room Tip: Don't have one over the dinning room.

I am sorry things were not as you had expected. On behalf of the receptionist can i please apologise that you were not given the attention that would have reasonably expected. Also for your room, it is a lovely room but should never be let when there is a function on, unless you were part of that party.as she misguidedly thought that you were. Once again do accept our apologies.

Rather dated hotel but probably one of the better ones in Bridlington. Great views of the sea from our room but the room needs updating. Decor very 90's, BBC channels did not work on the TV, and water pressure from the shower was poor. On the positive side, we had a very good nights sleep, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast fabulous. Must congratulate the night porter for keeping us supplied with sandwiches and drinks until the very early hours!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

Glad you enjoyed your views and our staff. The hotel is like the Forth Bridge, we are for ever updating and redecorating, but we are never quite finished. This winter we have renewed 8 bathrooms (a sixth of our total), 7 of which have been enlarged to include a walk-in shower as well as full bath. It seems you were in one of our older rooms, please ask for a newer room next time you come.

My wife and myself stayed on a two night break at the Expanse Hotel in December 2013 we enjoyed the hotel so much we have just returned again March 2014 for another very enjoyable stay. On arriving we were greeted with a warm welcome from one of the friendly receptionist. Our room was so clean and warm with very comfy bed bathroom spotless nice and hot shower over the bath with good supply of toiletries including lovely fluffy towels, TV good reception and including tea and coffee welcome try. Breakfast was served by Steve and his professional team with fruit juice, yogurt, cereals with very well presented full English breakfast Evening dinner what can I say with Steve and his extremely helpful staff quality food thank you to the Chef. The hotel has two very comfortable lounges with Wifi in most parts of the hotel there is a pub the Marine bar next door that is part of the hotel great entertainment on Saturday nights, car parking just outside on the sea front this hotel is in a great location a short 20 minute walk into the center of Bridlington and a very nice cliff top walk to Sewerby Park. To the owners and manager including all your professional helpful staff this hotel is a credit to yourselves having such a brilliant hotel we had absolutely no complaints Keep up the good work we will be coming back Thank You.

This was our second visit to the Expanse hotel in Bridlington. Our first stay was very good and the weather was brilliant, but it didn't write a review in case the second visit didn't live up to the same standards. - however this visit exceeded expectations and standards previously enjoyed.
The Expanse is quite a large hotel on the North Shore of Bridlington, with only a road separating the hotel from the beach. Being slightly out of the town is a bonus as there is plenty of parking spaces, and no rowdy night life passing by. The hotel is a very pleasant walk away from Sowerby Hall, gardens and zoo. You can walk along the cliff tops with plenty of seating to rest or enjoy the views, or in season there is a small "train" which takes you right to the entrance.
So the hotel! First impressions, all double glazed and updated. Friendly reception staff, and very friendly and efficient dining staff.
There is plenty of comfortable lounge areas, with access to balcony seating for coffee etc. WiFi is accessible throughout the hotel.
The rooms are of a good furnished standard for this type of hotel. Comfortable beds, and decent quality linen and accessories.
Although we had a slight query on arrival, this was immediately and efficiently rectified.
During this stay we had the opportunity to stop in one of the newly furnished apartments "The Sand Castle" which is one of several attached/part of the hotel apartments.
This apartment was a revelation! And is like stepping into another dimension of the hotel.
First impression is of the size, 2 bedrooms, 1 king size with en suite, 1 twin bedded room with exit to balcony, Large lounge with balcony, separate shower/ wet room, and a kitchen/ dining room. This is a complete home from home in size
OK that's the layout, but this apartment has to be the best ever we have seen in comparison to even "the Ritz" hotel in London, and any other we have stayed at. Why you might ask.
The quality throughout, from floors, doors, furnishing, fittings, plumbing, accessories, and design is first class.
The design and placement of furnishings, decoration, pictures etc, would not be out of place in magazines. The kitchen is so well equipped with dish washer, fridge, cooking hood etc, etc, utensils and crockery are of the best quality, all draws are soft touch closing, and the whole kitchen is crisp, modern, but quality. Credit to the hotel management and whoever chose the furnishings and designed the decor.
Any way - back to the hotel facilities. Breakfast is excellent, with a good choice of continental, as well as a plentiful full cooked choice.
Dinner is equally well served, tasty, hot and a good menu.
The staff are helpful and friendly.
So will we stop again- absolutely.
We have made an immediate re booking of The Sand Castle apartment for a longer stay, and will definitely stay in the hotel for a shorter break.
Bridlington was not one of our favourite towns, but the Expanse has made the visit worthwhile.
Why not 5 stars? Not sure, judge for yourself
