“Good hotel, well located.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2010

Stayed at the Monarch Hotel for just one night. We arrived a couple of hours early but our rooms were all ready for us. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were a little small but clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a good location by the Spa overlooking the sea. A choice of cooked breakfasts was included in the price and the food was very good. Bridlington is not the greatest place in the world but if I did ever return I would definitely stay at the Monarch.

We were met with happy faces from the minute we arrived to the minute we left.

Nice comfortable big rooms, great sea views. Everything from the rooms to the staff were brilliant.

Will definately stay again.

We stayed at this hotel in October 2008 for two nights whilst visiting Bridlington, booking through Hotels.com. When we arrived and showed our paperwork to the manager he said he had no knowledge of us and insisted we paid again, with little simpathy. Showed us to a grotty room with the thinnest walls seperating dozens on the same floor. If you like woodchip this hotel is ideal, faded magnolia, a prime example, diffident and unsimpathetic service, perfect to the detail.
Furnishings were poor, beds uncomfortable, breakfast (watery cordials, fatty bacon, minimum meat content sausages) was over by 8.30am - no lie-ins on a weekend!
If this hotel doesn't pull its socks up and start appearing to enjoy the visits of paying guests it will go out of business (and spoil the reputation of a first class Traditional UK Seaside Resort Town).

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2007

This hotel is convenient for the beach and the staff were in the main helpful and friendly. Unfortunately this hotel is also part of a coach tour business. Breakfast was horrendous. When we wanted to sit at a window table we were ordered off because the coach party had precedence and there were no 'reserved' signs. As soon as the coach people came in they drew the curtains so we were in the dark and could not see the sea. The toast was from stale bread. They try to squeeze breakfast into a 8:15 to 9:15 slot and the staff are run off their feet. We were quoted £48 each for a twin room but when I went on <Booking.com> I could get the same for £30 each for which they obliged. For a two star hotel it was what one would expect but it was certainly not worth more than what we paid and I would not stay there again. Not after the way we were treated at breakfast time.

  • Liked — Convenient for the beach
  • Disliked — Horrendous regimented and rushed breakfast. Can't sit there etc . .
