Another very comfortable stay at the Balmoral for 3 nights for bed and breakfast.

As always, not left wanting for much after a substantial breakfast each morning with all the trimmings.

Will be back later in the year for sure.

old, run down and smelly - never again! The only good thing about this hotel is its location to everything. The only staff members we saw were the girls serving breakfast. No attention to comfort or satisfaction what so ever.

Room Tip: try a different hotel

Just returned from a 4 day stay here, booked through a coach trip company. On arrival, an older chap handed out keys and gave directions to rooms. A fusty smell hit me as soon as I opened our room door — the most basic of rooms!!. Nothing matches and the furniture should be in a skip. Bedroom & bathroom in desperate need of a deep clean, although the bed linen was immaculate, even if only 3 out of 4 pillowslips were the same. Mattress was awful and has long outlived its usefulness. Would never consider to use the teapot on the 'hospitality tray'. There was a chair in our bathroom which could only be described as disgusting. . Towels are so old they are frayed at the edges. No bath mats provided. No manned reception whatsoever in hotel. You cant buy a cup of tea or a juice in the afternoon. However, on the other hand, the food provided was excellent, with a varied choice and generous portions. My only hope is that the cleanliness of the kitchen is of a higher standard than the rest of the hotel. The staff in the dining room work very well and are very helpful. Hotel is also in a great location, with the prom only a few metres away and at the other end of the street is the main shopping area. I have to say that I spoke to several guests there who are repeat customers and are perfectly happy with the service provided. Perhaps this hotel has been good in its day - and maybe with some investment and a BIG bit of TLC it could possibly rise again from the ashes, but I would never return and would not recommend it to anyone. it apparently is used by several coach companies but I wonder how many of them have actually sampled a stay there - it is certainly not my idea of an acceptable standard of a hotel, perhaps more a HOSTEL !

Stayed for 3 nights from Sunday 17th Feb to Wednesday 20th Feb on a bed and breakfast basis.

On this visit we secured our usual seaward facing spacious room which was excellent.

The Balmoral Hotel is an ideal base camp being positioned fairly centrally and a few minutes walk from the town centre.

Meal wise you are not left wanting. The breakfast is everything you need from cereals and fruit juice right through to the full fry up with fried bread if you dare.

For further information on walks and places to eat around Bridlington, please see my other reviews. The only addition that I would make to those is to check out the Marine Bar (adjoining the Expanse Hotel). Recently refurbished serving good food and beer and is in the Good Beer guide 2013.

If you have any questions about this review or Bridlington in general, please ask.

Late booking day before New Year's Eve. Accommodated myself and partner and mum and dad. Booking easy, checked in very quick with a lovely man who showed us to lift and explained where rooms were. Lovely clean room, bedding smelled beautiful and clean. New Year's Eve dinner started with sherry in the function room followed by plated buffet with as much beautifully cooked meats as you needed. Also sandwich buffet at 11.30 just before New Year countdown. Entertainment in lounge was good with no queuing to get a seat (could have done with some party poppers or something to make new year go with more of a bang). Breakfast Half hour later next day with superb service n tasty choices as much as you wanted. New Year's Day menu 5 courses beautifully cooked, got traditional Scottish home made steak pie dinner for New Year's Day, but other options. Entertainment could have been better, lovely young singer singing songs from musicals but for last night people were saying needed someone more upbeat, and after 5 course meal we really needed to move and dance!! Overall excellent value for money, would recommend for location, service, good food and value for money.
