Had a lovely stay as always. We never go anywere else. Meals are always good and the breakfast is to die for. Rooms are good and warm also there is a safe in rooms which is free, You wont get that in anyother hotel. Staff are good at there job and always make you feel welcome. I have read some of the coments on tripadvisor and can only say some people need to get a live. Always feel like we are comeing home when we stay there but with somebody else doing all the work. Nothing is to much trouble for Tim or Fiona and Kim and everyone else. Thanks as always.

Where do I start? Lovely rooms (very up to date decor, simple and contemporary without being too minimally 'boutique'), comfortable beds (too comfy - hard to get up in a morning!), quiet location for a good sleep, good hot showers, spotlessly clean, excellent food, perfect table service from lovely staff, everyone friendly and helpful. Tim & Fiona run a top class place.

Although I was there to teach a quilting holiday, so there wasn't much time for going out, the hotel is only moments from the beach (30 metres max) and visitor attractions like the Spa but it is also quick to get out of Bridlington for visiting the countryside nearby. I would recommend the hotel not only as a great place to stay for a traditional sea side holiday (the prom was surprisingly warm for April too) but a good location for exploring the Yorkshire Wolds and the east of the county, plus York is only about 40 miles away. Check out the themed breaks they run and the golfing deals too.

Free high speed internet is a very useful bonus. Looking forward to visiting in future.

Room Tip: Opt to dine in - excellent menu & value

Thank you for your review. As you know, we do ask guests to arrive after 2pm and we do say that facilities are not available till after check in. The reasoning behind this is so we can service & check rooms, prepare food, shop, conduct any repairs that are necessary etc, amongst many other jobs that need to be done before guests arrive. We are very hands on in the business and as so we are involved in all the usual routines.
We have arrangements with the local mobility shops (as we have a purpose built scooter docking station) and normally equipment and scooters are delivered here before guests arrive – so had you communicated this need then the wheelchair could have been here before you arrived and there would have been no need to leave your Dad in the car to walk into town to collect the chair yourselves. From what we recall, none of this was mentioned when you arrived at 10.30am
Yes, our bar lounge does open at 5pm and we don’t unfortunately have the staff or manpower on hand to open up this area prior to this without warning. You arrived back at 4.30, so that is only 30 minutes before opening. We are sorry, but the only way we can operate to the high standards we do & for the price is for everything to work like clockwork. This is certainly not unique for an owner operated guest accommodation. At the end of the day, we are a guest accommodation, not a four star hotel with the facilities and services associated with this.
We look forward to welcoming you back to The Royal Bridlington.

From the time we arrived we were treated with courtesy and consideration by the owners and staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the food well prepared and presented.

We did have difficulty exiting our bath although we are not disabled and a later discussion with the owners resulted in us being immediately provided with a handle to attach to the wall by suction and this solved our problem.

Obviously the hotel had rules based on servicing requirements or past adverse experiences but we found no difficulty at all in meeting the requirements.

Our visit was so successful that the group reserved accommodation for next year before they left

Positive: Clean and comfortable. Breakfast excellent. Dinner bland. Reasonably priced.
Negative: The owners, not the staff, were patronising and unhelpful. Most things appeared to be far too much trouble. The lady of the establishment only smiled when we payed on departure.
If the job is such an effort for you, I suggest you do something else. Thank goodness for the lovely waitresses. Despite their youth, they definitely have more of an idea of customer service.
It seems the owners prefer OAP's as customers as they are far less demanding and wouldn't dream of being any trouble.
I stress I am fully aware of the difference between a hotel and guest accommodation. As far as I'm aware, politeness and helpful service are a pre requisite of both.

We stayed at the Royal Hotel and slept like logs. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms aren't massive but are very clean and the bed was really comfortable. As we stayed at the peak of season I think the price was reasonable.

The Royal, Bridlington

After reading the reviews of this guest house we had decided to keep as ever an open mind and chose it for location do read on!.................The Royal is situated at 1 Shaftsbury Road – 1 house in off South Marine Drive just above the children’s paddling pool.

We arrived early but knew we wouldn’t be able to access our room any earlier we were allowed to park on the drive. We only had a few hours to kill and the weather was lovely so that was fine. I would rather have a properly cleaned room than not!

On arrival at 2pm we were met by Kim (she works in the restaurant and does some cleaning) friendly, polite and helpful lady. As my husband has recently had surgery we had requested a ground floor room. We were shown to our room 15 which was in a semi detached lodge in the garden. We had paid to use the scooter docking station in a secure outbuilding £1 per day. Our room was spotlessly clean, modern, well equipped, and comfortable. Our window over looked the garden and we were able to open the door to let fresh air in. (As this room is separate to the Guest House a large umbrella had been provided just in case!) We were delighted with this as our little boy could play quietly on the grass without bothering anyone and in return we could escape the usual noises you get in hotels and guest houses. I imagine not all guests would be happy with this. The room had TV, DVD, excellent hair dryer, good supply of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits, permanent toiletries, alarm clock, en suite shower and safe. The room had a very interesting and quirky information book well worth reading!

Our only grumble which we have passed on to the owners was the attitude of one of them! We had a returned from a long walk myself on foot, my son on scooter and husband on mobility scooter. My son chose to scooter up the alleyway to our room and naturally we told him not to do this. (for health and safety reasons) So he was scootering back to me so I could lock the scooter away in the boot of the car when he was reprimanded by a mature female we presume to be one of the owners. Now I understand that children can be noisy and unruly if not kept an eye on but he was being neither (3m from us!) My husband pointed out that we had just said the same and that he was returning the scooter to us to lock away in the car. I mentioned that he may want to scooter on the lawn in front of our room if there were no other guests there. To which a stern “Not on my lawn you wont”. It was dry and the lawn wasn’t pristine it certainly didn’t have stripes on it! So the scooter went away. There are ways and means of going about things and this wasn’t one of them! There were no pleasantries that followed. It did leave a rather sour taste in our mouths.

The guest house, location, food, cleanliness, fixtures and fittings are great. The other half of the team the gentleman was lovely we would recommend the guest house it is trying so hard to be perfect but keep the other half of the team away from the front line otherwise you won’t have a business to run.

Breakfasts were provided between 815am and 915am the conservatory door would be unlocked at that time and not before. The breakfasts were excellent a great choice of fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, pastries, preserves and then an extensive English Hot Breakfast Menu cooked to order. We have to say the best “well done” bacon ever received (at our request in hotel / guest house alike) you could also order porridge, smoked salmon or kippers.

The guest house had a bar which opened at 5pm we didn’t use it but it was at the front of the property so you could see the sea in part.

Dinner is served from 6pm and was three courses for £14.50 we didn’t partake in this but are sure it would have been lovely.

The guest house is more expensive than others but quality and location wise it’s second to none.
