This was a Groupon offer, so it was very good value for money, and the room was a standard sized double with strawberries and champagne in the room as per the deal, so all was good in that respect. The owner did seem keen to offer an upgrade to a bigger room for extra money, and seemed dissapointed when not taken. The room that we had was fine, clean and tidy, and the en suite had both a bath and shower, and there was no shortage of hot water for either. The room was heated by a small electric heater on the wall, but this was more than capable of keeping the room warm, and bearing in mind it was January, it should be able to do so all year round. The only down side was a strange underlying smell in the room which was a bit fishy...yes I know its Bridlington, but it wasn't in a fresh fish smell.
The breakfast was the best thing of all with loads available, including cereals, juice, fresh fruit, berries, and the usual options of all sorts of fry up types of things...which were all non greasy, and just generally top quality. There is also an option of kippers and salmon.Breakfast had a one hour window of 0815 to 0915. There appeared to only be 3 rooms in for breakfast, but there was plenty of space should it be busier.
The hotel itself is ideally placed just a couple of minutes walk from the town centre and only about 30 metres away from having a sea view as it is just off the main esplanade road.
Just one whinge, on the way out of the hotel and weighed down with bags etc, I opened the outer door to pack the car, with my other half still inside, but a member of staff obviously didn't see this, and slammed the door behind me with a comment, obviously not meant to be heard, of 'I'll shut the door then!' Very sarcastic, and got a shock when she turned around to find my partner stood there. Just thought I would mention it, as we were leaving and didn't bother taking it further, but really, if that's all it takes to wind up up into a mood, then you shouldn't be involved in the service industry. It was only the outer door of the porch open for two seconds, and it was 12 degrees above zero. Sour taste just at the end. Pity as the waitresses at breakfasts were great.
