“Groupon stay”

Stayed this weekend as part of a group on deal. Have stayed before after a summer race night at haydock race course a couple of years ago. Nice clean rooms with couch, everything you need really. Beds aren't as comfortable as the Premier Inn. Didn't eat or drink here as there is a very nice pub next door. Staff nice and polite. Just one point, ask for a room away from reception as it can be quite noisy when the smokers are outside the entrance. Other than that an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the entrance, quite noisy late on when smokers are outside after having a f...

Stayed here purely for a package as part of a murder mystery evening through groupon. Really good deal as it included evening meal & breakfast as well as the entertainment.

Food was very tasty, shame that there was only one choice of potatoes offered but it was still a good meal.

Staff very friendly.

Rooms are ok, not the poshest of places but has what it needs. Room was by the east lancs but didn't particularly notice it being noisy. Shower room was good, quite modern and good shower.

Bed wasn't that great, very hard so we found it uncomfortable. 1 pillow wasn't enough and 2 pillows were too high.

We really enjoyed the breakfast, lots of choice. Could do with a different juice choice as well as orange juice but that's just my preference. Staff were always very busy keeping food topped up and tables clean

We stayed for two nights as part of a Groupon deal. This included a meal on one night. We arrived later than expected due to traffic, 7.15. We decided to eat in, that night. We said 8.00 but when we got to our room had a call from reception asking us to change it to 7.45 as they had a big party coming in. We were shown to a side room, off the main dining area, which was a conference room, very stark, reminded me of courses I go on at work. After a while another two couples came and joined us. (They were not happy) The food was ok, although we both ordered steak and they only had one and a half left!
We were in room 333, which was small but clean and comfortable. I wouldn't recommend this room, it was right above the main reception so every time the people at the party went out for a smoke, we heard them. This went on til gone 1am, thou I eventually got to sleep it was a very comfy bed.
The breakfasts were delicious and hot!
I would like to mention how hard the staff worked, esp only having two or three behind the bar on the Friday night. The staff were also very friendly, including the cleaners who all said 'hello' as we walked by.
We were going to Liverpool on the Saturday and Sunday, it was very easy to get to from the hotel.

A modern rep hotel, with basic offerings.Food was OK and the staff worked hard. The rooms are basic, no A/C and filthy windows, but the worst thing is Traffic NOISE all night long as the A580 is only feet away from your room.

Room Tip: Don't get a room next to dual carriageway

We stayed here one night. On check in we were given our room we had booked for 3 adults and our room had one double bed. On ringing reception he apologised and we went bk downstairs to be given another room, normally wouldnt have bothered me but we arrived late after a lot of travelling. The double bed seemed quite small but it was comfortable. We did find the entrance to the hotel a little hard to find, the sat nav took us to the back of some field. We didnt have breakfast so cant comment on that. We slept well and felt rested for the next part of our journey.

I always try to write a review from my perspective and experience, before reading what other people have voiced. So here goes.

We were attending a murder mystery evening which was being held at the Ramada Encore.

We have never stayed at this chain of hotels before so had no perception of what to expect.

The hotel is ideally situated just off the M6 at Haydock and appears to be quite new in its build and appearance.

There was ample parking in the carpark.

The reception desk is quite small and it took a little time to check in.

One side of the desk is the main reception facing the main entrance and the opposite side facing into the hotel is the main bar and I felt quite small for the amount of people it has to serve.

We were met with a friendly smile by the lady on reception and were given a room on the third floor. A single guest lift is located not too far away.

First impressions of the hotel was 'clinical' and 'airy'.

Our room was basic and I got the impression that all rooms are of the same ilk throu out. However One thing can be said our room was clean.

The bathroom had a walk-in shower which I found great rather than a bath but sadly the room had an odour of musty damp. The main bed/living area didn't and as we were only staying for one night I didn't see any major issues by complaining.

There was a hairdryer in the room along with a desk and ethernet connection for internet access. WiFi was non existent in the room and in this day and age I would of thought that this is something that should be provided like running water from a tap. WiFi was apparently available in the reception area but we found it hit or miss to obtain a connection. There was also a small two seater sofa in our room. Tea and coffee facillities in the room was nice to have as well.

A traditional small radiator was next to the bed and this along with being able to open the window a couple of inches equated to the climate control. Sadly no air conditioning.

The double bed was certainly not the most comfortable I have slept in, but again for a night it was ok.

TV reception was not brilliant but good enough to watch for traditional channels.

Overall the room felt clinical and bright and lacked a warm feel.

The evening was very loud in the main area just off reception. There was probably a hundred plus people for the murder mystery and what let it down was the noise of people talking that got louder and louder during the night. I could not hear people talking on our table due to volume. Accoustically, a nightmare, the main area is not cordoned off from the reception and is very open plan. There is an area of couches and seats to chillout less formally, but again you see and hear lots of noise from the main ground floor/bar area/reception.

Breakfast was ample. My bug bear here were the toasters. Traditional pop up, but it took ages to brown the bread. Cereals and hot traditional food was avaliable. Bacon, eggs, beans, hash browns etc... A machine for tea, coffee, hot chocolate and a selection of fruit juices freely available.

The local garage also sells beer and alcohol if you fancied spending the evening in your room.

Checkout by eleven a.m. was quite painless.

I must say the staff were very pleasant and polite.

There is a fabulous pub situated a hundred yards away which I would certainly reccomend.

The Ramada Encore Haydock I felt is certainly a budget hotel. I have stayed in worse and have stayed in better for the money spent.

On a budget then you will not be dissapointed with this accomodation.

Wake up - Ramada..... Dirty Room, Small double bed, Double Glazed room but plenty of noise from the dual carriageway outside as the glazing was blown, Internet not working, Warned I may not get an evening meal as there were 2 coaches in for the night, Business Point computer was not on and when I switched it on it was running XP and had suffered a fatal error and would not work, Bedside lamp pulled out of the wall, TV not tuned in to all channels and a fuzzy picture, No shower curtain, Shower temperature adjustment did not work, Door to adjoining room unlocked, Breakfast queue was enormous so didn't bother - what else is there to say - oh yes - how do you keep such friendly staff ??? You have enthusiastic staff who came across well - you just need to support them - would I stay again ?? Highly Unlikely !!!

Room Tip: Staff were enthusiastic. Not a room overlooking the noisy dual carriageway.
