Visited this evening with two friends, was hurried through our meal and because they thought we'd had a drink our 'butter chicken' was actually tikka Marsala with a knob of butter on top! When queried one of the waiters admitted this but refused to rectify the situation and then they tried to overcharge us by nearly £20!! The food is nice there but they are extortionists who think they can rip you off because you've had one or two!...won't be coming back!!

My husband and I have wanted a nice Indian meal for a while and we were not disappointed. A really cosy restaurant and the food is really lovely. The staff are very friendly and looked after us very well. We will definitely be returning.

I have absolutely nothing bad to say regarding the food at this delightful old style indian restaraunt. Very tasty and very reasonably priced.
The only complaint we have with the place is the mind boggling speed at which the dishes arrived and disappeared from the table.
Mcdonalds have nothing on these boys.
I think the staff have been headhunted from the Wiliiams F1 pit crew.
There were 10 of us out for a birthday celebration with a table booked for around 8 o'clock. We have been there before and were aware of the speed of service so we ordered our starters and said we would order the main when we had finished. This was an attempt to manage to stay in the place long enough to finish our first drink.
All went well, and wine, beer and other drinks were ordered. The starters were finished and the main meals ordered. I cannot imagine the punishment awaiting the last waiter back into the kitchen, I thought they were on skates!
There is nothing more off putting when eating out than having to tell over eager waiting staff to leave the bloody clearing up until we have finished eating.
Whatever you do dont take both hands off any plate you would wish to keep long enough to finish the food on it. At one stage I thought that they were going to bring out a bucket of water and start the washing up where we sat.
They cant have been expecting another sitting after us surley.
10 out of 10 for the food. 1 out of 10 for a pleasent birthday night out.
Wont be back I'm afraid.

I have used this Restaurant for the last 25 years. It never fails to deliver. The owner is as passionate about this business as he was from day one and you will know this when he greets you. Most Indian menus contain variation if you step outside the Tikka/Korma stereotypes (which incidentally come up very well here). You just have to look for a more adventurous meal and the staff will help you select it. everyone has their favourite Restaurant and this is mine. Regarding table placements, The Shapla strikes the right balance between privacy and the sharing of the atmosphere when the place is buzzing (which it usually is).
