“Tiny, quiet, perfect.”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

First time doing this - had a 5-6 hour layover in London - itinerary was Vancouver - London -(5-6 hour layover) - Leeds. I had a fast turnaround in Leeds where I had to be rested and ready to hit the ground running in the new timezone so I knew a nap would be necessary. I waffled about whether or not it would be worth it for only a 4 hour window with them.

YES. YES. YES. this was worth it. The tiny single bunk was absolutely worthwhile - I fell asleep instantly, slept four hours, got up and felt absolutely refreshed. This was worth an entire day of adjustment - I had very little jetlag between that and taking melatonin.

It was very clean, very neat, and very quiet. The only downside was that it is REALLY hard to find - no signs and where you finally end up going is behind a restaurant, and it looks like it's the end of a hallway, with nothing there. Also, there was no one at the desk when I got there, and I couldn't get in for about 5 minutes until someone left - that was really confusing - it would be better to have a doorbell with light response (as opposed to sound response) so they know when people are waiting to come in..

So, if you are waffling because of a connection of only 5 or 6 hours, do it. Trust me, it's worth it! But yes, I left an hour and a half before my next flight and that was perfect timing - don't leave any later than that if you are headed to a different terminal.

Room Tip: not next to the front door or reception desk.

Dear EVancouverMom,

We are awfully pleased to see that you enjoyed so much your YOTEL experience (to the point of calling YOTEL perfect!) and that you appreciated our concept.

Thank you for your kind comments about our crew and service and your recommendation.

It seems that upon your arrival we were out and about (within the hotel of course!) attending a fellow guest. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused momentarily. We are pleased to share with you that our kiosks are now operational so in the rare occasion one of our team is not there, one can very easily check-in in one of the kiosks and access the hotel with the key that will be provided.

Unfortunately due to our location we have to adhere to the brand guidelines of Heathrow Airport (as all companies that trade within the airport). The signs we currently display are the only ones we are allowed to to put up.

We look forward to welcoming you back!

Warm regards,
Yiorgos

I've been wanting to try the Yotel brand since seeing the New York city property a few years ago, On a recent trip to London I had an early morning flight and did not want to have to get up before dawn to get to the airport, so I opted to stay at the Yotel at Heathrow Airport. I took the Heathrow Express to the airport, transferred to the terminal connector train and from there it was a very short walk to the hotel.

Yotel is a by the hour hotel so its not the kind of place where you check in, go into the city and come back hours later. Its really for layovers, or spending the night before an early morning flight.

That said, the hotel is near to airport restaurants and shops so you are not confined to your room. There's a pub just outside the door. The hotel also has snacks and a limited selection of hot foods and hot drinks.

The room is very cozy. The room is fitted with a sofa that power cranks down to become a bed. It is ver comfortable. Once the bed is open there is not a lot of room to walk around.

There is a full, if small bathroom, a small desk and a closet and television set.
Everything was immaculate and in excellent condition.

All the rooms called cabins have a window looking out onto the hall so for any privacy you must pull the curtains closed, which feels a little confining. But since everyone is there to sleep and "night time" could be anytime at a transit hotel, I don't suppose this is much of an issue.

Overall, the Yotel fits this unique market niche very well. I highly recommend it for travelers either hubbing at Heathrow or wanting to get to the airport the night before a flight.

Room Tip: Rooms come in sizes. I stayed in a premium for two people but a single would have been fine. There a...

The ideal stopover between flights. Loved it. Cosy, clean, very comfortable with friendly staff. Would gladly use it again if travelling via Heathrow.
My partner was desperate and we thought of leaving the airport to stay the 11 hours delay in a hotel. Considering the cost of a hotel, taxi fares this was by far a better choice. Highly recommended for travellers.

Room Tip: Great for stopovers as it was clean, comfortable and excellent location with friendly and helpful st...

This is a very convenient place to stay in the London Heathrow Airport, Terminal 4 mezzanine level. We've used it several times while making extended connections. Arriving flight from the US in the early AM and departing that afternoon/evening. The rooms are very modern and very sound proof, beds are nice and comfortable and the all the usual expected amenities make this a great place to rest and get some much needed sleep. The price is reasonable and you can do everything online prior to arriving.

I often choose a Yotel when travelling through Heathrow or Gatwick with one of my kids (I'm a travel writer) because you're right INSIDE the airport so don't have to panic about transport, and also because of the by-hourly-slot booking system, which works out great value compared to most other hotels.

To clarify - the first time I stayed in a Yotel was a press stay to review it, but all subsequent visits I have paid for.

i generally choose a standard cabin, which has a large single bed big enough for an adult and a small child. they are tiny (barely room to put your case on the floor to open it when you need something) but you're only paying for somewhere comfortable to lie down for one night.

my kids love the cosiness and the decor and I love that you get an alarm clock, earplugs, hot drinks, water (all free, i believe). staff have always been really helpful and the toiletries are pretty lush.

haven't tried the food because the cabins really are so small, I wouldn't want them to smell of food all night and it wouldn't be pleasant eating in such a tiny space.

the only ever issue I had was at the gatwick yotel where the duvet cover was a bit coarse - needed softener.

they can also be a bit noisy because of people coming in and out at odd hours - but none of my kids have ever been woken up, and again, they do offer you ear plugs.

but i've used them 5 or more times now so they must be doing most of it right!

Yotel an excellent way to refresh on a long layover. Room was clean, tidy, small but very comfortable, includes free beverages and room service, free wifi and was able to recharge mobile and check email. Would recommend if you need to re-group on a long layover between flights.
