The pub had eight cask ales available plus a real cider. This large pub has three and a garden. There is regular great, usually blues and jazz live music in one of the bars and a theatre upstairs. my ale was in great condition and service is prompt and friendly. There is a good choice of seating in the pub and dogs seem to be welcome providing the owners control them. The only downside on my Sunday afternoon visit was that part of the pub resembled a crèche where there was around eight noisy toddlers. One mother spoon fed her child in a rather large push chair near the coat stand. The families did not seem to heed the notice to clean up after their children. However, families have to leave by 7pm. However, despite this downside the pub is a must visit for real ale and live music aficionados. Food is also available.
