Unsure how reviews can be written about a restaurant after it has closed and it's been closed a long time. In it's final 12 months Edwinns crashed and burned. Having reverted to its original name, our last meal there was a cooking disaster. Sirloin steak tough as old boots, overcooked fish and cold soup that should have been hot was served to one guest, with soup that was literally boiling served to another. The view being that one soup had been in the microwave twice, which was bad enough, but with waiting staff that did not seem to care by that point, blaming the poor meat on their supplier, which indicated that their chef wasn't checking his produce or the microwave !
In reality, the closure was long overdue as Edwinns was degrading memories of it's original good food, excellent service and atmosphere for a night out as a couple or a group.
This used to be one of the good places to eat around Shepperton but the continual move to meal deals and the cheapest of brasserie style food saw Edwinns going downhill fast. the Three Horseshoes in Laleham (book or be disappointed) was probably the final nail in the coffin as Edwinns customer based flocked there, to receive excellent service and fabulous food (never a bad meal or individual dish) and a buzzing atmosphere of food and customer happiness.
RIP Edwinns ... you would have been missed if you'd not lost the plot !
