“Nice one night stay”
Reviewed 4 January 2014 via mobile

We used this hotel on BoxingDay as it was close to Kempton race course.
The rooms have tv, iron and air con also tea facilities.
The rooms were clean and had a nice clean bathroom.
Would highly recommend the room service, food was great, we had steak sandwiches.
Buffet breakfast was equally good. Staff were friendly and attentive.
Hotel grounds were lovely surrounded by lakes. There is a Swan sanctuary at the entrance to the lane that leads to the hotel.

Me and my Boyfriend stayed here as a base when we went to Thorpe Park. It was easy to get to from the train station and was only a short taxi drive away from Thorpe Park. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was small but comfy and we had a nice view of the gardens there. The food was lovely, especially the chips! We enjoyed a swim and slept well.

Comfortable, clean room. Lovely surroundings. The staff are very helpful. The breakfast is also very good, with a wide selection of cereals, fruits and full english.

Stayed twice in the last month or so. On the second visit, I was given free wifi access, whereas the first visit I wasnt offered this. Considering the price of a one night stay, wifi should always be included.

Polite and helpful staff and reasonably good breakfast and dinner. Room was clean and simply decorated. Advise taking a taxi if arriving at Shepperton station since it is 30-40min walk alongside busy (and in places unlit) roads. A reliable place to stay.

For the second year running I stayed here on Boxing Day due to its proximity to lower Sunbury , where I needed to be.

Last year I was upgraded as an IHG Platinum Ambassador to an executive room, even though staying on rewards points, not so this time despite the hotel being almost empty (about 5 cars in the car park.) Most of the IHG hotels I use upgrade on points stays and the fact that on an empty night here they didn't is a big mark down for me. the considerably superior HI in nearby Kingston/Surbiton have never not upgraded me.

The room was adequate, a bit tired, but clean and the bathroom clean too.

The free WiFi was very reliable, still lousy mobile phone signals in this location.

The road leading to the hotel has been resurfaced for most of its length and is much better, it's still unlit, I suggest bring a torch if you're going to be walking it in the dark.

Most annoyingly, one member of staff came into the room at around 8.30 without knocking, I hadn't put the chain or DND sign on, but should you have to? 2 further knocks at the door followed in the subsequent half hour. Don't they get lists of room occupancy? Same thing happened last time I stayed here.

Worst thing was the heating. I couldn't get my room warm at all despite setting the thermostat to maximum. I had a cold night. Not impressed.

Hotel is set in a rural setting and is a little different from the normal fare. Light and airy is the impression with a decent 21st century ambience. Rooms were fine, checkin easy and restaurant service very friendly and efficient. Food nothing special in fact pizza was pretty poor, steak overcooked for a medium but caesar salad was decent. Would use again.

I stayed here for 17 days whilst working in the area. The hotel is down a quiet lane and and quite difficult to find. It is in a nice setting but IS £10 in a taxi or 40 mins walk from anywhere. If your walking you have to walk up the lane on the road and then onto a very narrow footpath on a busy road. From there it is around 40 mins walk into Shepperton. Shepperton is also very quiet.

The hotel itself is nice. The bar staff and reception staff are very helpful and polite. I was initially put into a twin room. I did ask for a double as I was staying for some time but was told there were none available over the weekend. I was asked to come back on the Monday. I eventually got a double on the Wednesday. The first receptionist was not willing to move me without the OK from her manager. On the Wednesday I got Jack a very helpful receptionist who changed me immediately.

The rooms are small and a little tired with wallpaper peeling in some areas. The bathrooms are also small with no walk in shower, The bed is comfortable and the rooms are clean.

In the room there is a flat screen TV but it only has freeview channels. It does'nt even have all of them. Its a 4 star classed hotel. The Sky channels should be available. I beleive the Sky channels are held back so people come to the bar to watch the football. This means they will spend money eating and drinking instead of watching it in their rooms. As for wifi it is very expensive £5 per hour or £15 pounds a day is crazy in this day and age. I live in Thailand and 90% of the hotels give you free unlimited wifi for free. Thats even in 2* accomodation. Holiday Inn should really move with the times.

The breakfasts are very good with a good english/scottish cooked breakfast available buffet style. There are also continental breakfasts available. The meals in the bar are good pub fayre but expensive for what you get with around £15 for a cheese burger and chips. The bar is also expensive. £4.75 for a bottle of Magners. The bar staff are very nice but also busy with meals which sometimes leaves the bar unmanned. I was at the bar waiting one time when the restaraunt manager came through. He saw me waiting looked the other way and walked off. Great service by him.

Basically if you want a quiet hotel in a quiet area, to pay for expensive food, wifi, drink and where you are basically stuck at the hotel then the Holiday in is for you. If not go for somewhere else. It was OK but after 17 days felt a bit like an open prison.
