After looking at there website me and my wife thought we must visit here.
on sunday the 9th october we visited tottington manor, we were pleased that it was fairly busy because that is always a good sign.
we sat in the main restaurant service was really good to start with.
my wife started with the crab cakes and i with mini bubble and squeak, and for our main we had roast beef and roast pork. The beef melted in your mouth and the roast pork was really generous, when our main course was cleared that’s when we noticed the service dropping.
we were full and decided not to have dessert, we went to the bar to pay to pay as we had sat there for 10 minutes waiting for the bill.
even then the person behind the bar was quite rude to us, we asked for the bill again and just got a bit of paper in front of us which was our receipt, we paid cash and just got thank you.
It was totally different to the warm welcome we had.

What a dissapointment.

Having eaten regularly at tottington Manor for special occasions, we booked in , in August for my Wife's birthday. We were aware of the refurbishment but not the new ownership.

It is with regret that I must report that the food standard had really plummeted and the service was offhand, impersonal and rushed.

I ordered Smoked Haddock Kedgeree from the menu. It certainly was not a kedgeree - no spices litle taste and THREE FLAKES of haddock.

Also on the menu was a langoustine and monkfish stir fry with noodles. Mine contained 2 king prawns and one lump of monkfish!!!

Our guest ordered lamb - it was so overcooked and to be almost inedible.

I compalined, in retrospect to Tottington Manor AND the new owners (Skylane Hotels).

The manager of Tottington Manor replied and apologised. I still await any kind of communication from the owners.

NOt somewhere I would visit again!!!

We booked lunch at Tottington Manor for family birthdays. Having previously been there (about 12 months ago) and had a lovely meal outside on terrace, we were expecting the same again.

The host greeting was incredibly rude, amongst other comments including that we should stop changing our minds about where we wanted to sit, telling a customer they couldn't order desert because she was too busy, as well as rolling her eyes at other staff behind my father's head when we asked if we could settle up and take the coffees outside.

Our drinks orders were forgotten, the potatoes for the roast were forgotten, the meat came rare when it was ordered well done. A customer on the next table was treated with disdain when he couldn't offer a solution for the fact that he'd order the last available steak and hadn't been cooked correctly.

What was a shame, was that with the exception of the host, the staff seemed to be trying very hard (running at some points), but there were very few of them.

On the plus side, the waitresses were friendly and gave a great recommendations, and the food was excellent - tasty, good quality and the fish was cooked perfectly. It is also an amazing venue although it's a shame there is now no waitress service for outside seating.

Overall would not recommend purely because it was such a stressful experience when we were hoping for a relaxed Sunday lunch. If they can keep the kitchen and sort out the staffing, communication and attitude problems it could be a great place again.

We stayed here for the night for my husbands birthday and were so impressed with everything. Having read previous reviews I was slightly concerned but from check in (with Sammie) till check out it was FANTASTIC! Our room was absolutely gorgeous with stunning views and great attention to detail. We had a drink in the garden before dinner and the stunning views took my breath away. As we were on the inclusive rate I was a bit worried that we might be restricted on our menu choices but no - we could choose anything off the a la carte menu with no supplement charge and believe me - the food is 5 star (see previous review). Sara and melanie who looked after us really made us feel like part of the family and if you don't visit then you are really missing out on a great experience.

New owners were fantastic. Chef deserves a michelin star (or 2). Best food we have ever experienced (we are both vegetarian). Nothing was too much trouble - the chef even got special foodin for us. We were not staying at the hotel, as we were in a self catering cottage about 3 miles away. Stumbled on this stunning located restuarant and dined there all week (even breakfast!). Nothing was too much trouble. We had a look at the rooms for future reference, and they were all newly refurbished and looked stunning. You will not be disappointed stopping or eating here.

Tottingham Manor has been recently taken over. As it has been closed for a while we thought we would give it a try under the new ownership. I went with my husband for dinner on a Saturday evening. The food was lovely, location amazing! We were told all the bedrooms are currently being refurbished, so all the previous reviews with regard to the rooms should be ignored. It is located at the foot of the beautiful Southdowns with a path directly opposite that takes you up to the top of the downs with views over Brighton and to the sea. Not far to walk to the famous Devils Dyke. Definitely worth a visit.
