A fantastic local italian restaurant set in a warm, friendly, elegant but relaxed atmosphere with a menu that constantly changes to suit the changing seasons and ensuring only the freshest and best ingredients go into our dishes. The wine list is superb ranging from small, modest Italian Vineyards to some of the great names and vintages. A Cena means "at dinner" and is pronounced "Ah Chenna"

This was a recommendation to one of our friends, so we rocked up early evening on a Friday, reservation having previously been made (apparently advisable to do so)

If you are there before 7pm, you get the option of the express menu where for £8.50 (at time of writing) you get a delightful Parmesan and creme fraiche salad and a choice of three mains followed by tea, coffee or hot chocolate
The women in group went for this and the veal polpettes (meatballs) were pretty special!
I had the main of lamb with samphire and when it arrived, I didn't think it would be sufficient to fill me up
How wrong was I! So much flavour and the richness hit the spot for me
Not usual for us, but we had to see what else they can put together and so had the panne cotta (HIGHLY recommended!!) and the cannoli

Price is reasonable and the wine list extensive enough to satisfy your palate - we had a bottle of Vianti Rosso which was medium bodied and smooth
We would happily make a repeat visit

Went there for lunch on a recommendation. We were the only diners. The first two wines we asked for were both out of stock. I have never encountered this at a restaurant. The food is smart Italian and we had to trawl the menu hard to find dishes that appealed. The food was well prepared and cooked when it arrived. If you eat a la carte as we did it is not cheap. Altogether it was a disappointing experience. It may be better in the evening.

“Authentic, Atmospheric Italian Restaurant”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

This is a lovely room, spacious and decorated in dark and cream colours which work well. There are fresh flowers and a genuine welcome. The food is delicious and bountiful ..... Lord only knows how much reviewers who have complained previously about portion size actually expect. We went with old friends who live locally and enjoyed scampi fritti, rocket salad, hake (amazing), lamb and veal. Service was excellent and this should really be a 4.5 review......

“Nice Italian”
Reviewed 22 May 2014 via mobile

A cosy looking Italian. Starter of spicy prawns was delicious and generous. The wine recommended by the waiter was nice and good value. Main course of veal and salad was also nice though to my large appetite a little small. Overall very nice and would return

“Tasty meal except bland starter . Not cheap for portion size and insufficient vegetables with main ”

Mains good quite small portions but well prepared and good flavour. Drinks and wine expensive vegetables need as extras so overall quite pricey
