“Great location, good value, easy parking & comfortable 2 bed apartment”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

This two bedroom lower apartment is very well located in the heart of lower Boscastle and within very easy walking distance of the harbour, attractions, pubs, shops and restaurants.

An added bonus is that it has a parking space right outside the door which worked well, even during a busy weekend Arts & Food Fair - an annual event which was great fun.

One suspects the reason why the rent is so reasonable is that the apartment does not have a picturesque view - only the street and an alleyway. BUT it is so easy to get everywhere including the cliff top paths - or a lovely walk up the valley.

The bedrooms have built in cupboards, the larger bedroom has a comfortable double bed and the smaller room has two singles. We had to pin the main bedroom curtains closed to get better privacy - the window adjoins the alley - but this was a very minor problem.

The large kitchen was excellent and basic supplies plus nice chocolates were there for us on our arrival. The living room has both a dining and sitting area and the TV provided the stations we needed. The Wi-Fi worked fine.

The apartment was clean and we had no issues with any of the ample amenities. If you are driving from Devon, a good place to stock up before getting to Boscastle is a huge Tesco in Liskeard. The local shops in Boscastle are good but somewhat limited.

Don't forget to either bring towels or have a local friend lend you some.

Our deposit was returned on time by the owners and we would certainly stay there again if we were lucky!

“Convenient, Clean and Well Equiped”

We received clear instructions on how to locate the property and door key, which we found in clean and tidy condition on our arrival. A fresh pint of milk in the fridge was a nice touch.

The cottage has a typical attractive stone-built exterior and a tastefully decorated and well-furnished interior. It has all appliances that you would expect to find in a holiday let, plus some that are less common like a washing machine, dryer and WIFI that works. The kitchen is unusually spacious and, even though it was a chilly November week, the storage heaters were more than adequate in keeping the cottage cosy. The allocated parking space and central location make this cottage very convenient for the amenities in the village.

Boscastle is a great place to stay when visiting Cornwall; there are some lovely local walks, and beautiful bays and beaches a short drive away. There are three local pubs that all serve real ales and have pretty decent menus. We had a number of meals locally and I was impressed with the quality of the food and the standard of catering. There is a wonderful community atmosphere here, with live music or singing several nights of the week.

Only drawback I can see is that there is no garden in the downstairs apartment. Not a problem in November, but would be nice in the summer months.

“Go ahead and book it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We spent a week at the old oil house and was extremely pleased with the accommodation. On arrival there was a welcome pack full of essential information about the property and also the local attractions, the property was very clean and tidy.

The two bed apartment is very spacious and is furnished to a high standard, it is in a great location for the local shops, restaurants, pubs, and harbour.

The apartment is well worth the money and I would certainly recommend it to my friends and family.

We travelled with our teenage Daughter and her friend. The cottage is excellent - lovely and clean and furnished to a very high standard. There was plenty of room for us all with nice bedrooms a wonderful kitchen and spacious living / dining room. Good location in the heart of boscastle.
Must also mention the local pub called the Cobweb which is about 100yds from the house. Great selection of real ales and a fantastic food menu. We had some great meals there and not too expensive either.
A wonderful relaxing weeks holiday.

Booked on line and thought the place looked OK from the pics. Was more interseted with the location but when we arrived my elderly father and i were over the moon at the space and standard of furnishings in the downstairs appartment. We particularly liked the spacious kitchen which allowed you to cook proper meals and not feel cramped. The beds were comfy as was the living area and the storage heaters were new to us but it was warm enough to just turn them off. The allocated space worked well for us as we put a cone out everytime we took the car away. A highly recomended accomodation and we will be recomending to our friends and family.

“Lovely cottage, home from home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2013 for a stay in March 2013

We have just returned from a great week staying at The Old Oil House. The cottage was extremely clean and well decorated - definitely home from home.

Great location for the local pubs, restaurants, shops and harbour.

The only improvement would be to install a dishwasher.

“The Old Oil House - Boscastle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2012 for a stay in May 2012

We enjoyed our stay at the Old Oil House very much! We don’t think there could have been anything more that could be done to make the experience any better. We will have no hesitation in recommending the property and may well return in the future.
