We had a week's holiday at the Old Oil House, situated right in the centre of Boscastle which is a beautiful village and ideal for exploring the North Cornwall coast. As it is all on one floor, the property is compact but very comfortable and has a lovely character. It is very well equipped and had everything we needed to make our stay easy and relaxing, including the allocated parking space right outside. We had a lovely, relaxing week in a lovely setting and I would thoroughly recommend it.

The contact with the owners from the beginning was helpful and prompt replies to help book our short notice break. On arrival everything was as per the instructions making it easy to settle in and start our holiday. The pictures do not do the place justice it's homely, more spacious than expected and after a 7 hour journey a pint of milk and cookies on arrival was greatfully received. The location is spot on and previous reviews are right you don't get the views here but everything is just on your doorstep. My only criticism is as with any downstairs apartment if you have noisy neighbours that play music on their return from the pub, wii games etc till all hours you will get no sleep and after a bad first night they were asked to bare in mind we were downstairs from them.. The same happened the second night and only stopped once warned.. We didn't see in the third night it had no longer become a relaxing break and more one of anxiety knowing what was coming.. If neighbours could be guaranteed it would be perfect.

Had a lovely time staying here and didn't want to leave. The cottage was perfect for our little boy being all on one level not having to worry about stairs. Lovely exposed oak beams with a nice balance of old and new decor. The bedrooms were nice and comfy and the living room was cosy and the kitchen is to die for! We will without doubt be coming to stay here again.
This two bedroom lower apartment is very well located in the heart of lower Boscastle and within very easy walking distance of the harbour, attractions, pubs, shops and restaurants.
An added bonus is that it has a parking space right outside the door which worked well, even during a busy weekend Arts & Food Fair - an annual event which was great fun.
One suspects the reason why the rent is so reasonable is that the apartment does not have a picturesque view - only the street and an alleyway. BUT it is so easy to get everywhere including the cliff top paths - or a lovely walk up the valley.
The bedrooms have built in cupboards, the larger bedroom has a comfortable double bed and the smaller room has two singles. We had to pin the main bedroom curtains closed to get better privacy - the window adjoins the alley - but this was a very minor problem.
The large kitchen was excellent and basic supplies plus nice chocolates were there for us on our arrival. The living room has both a dining and sitting area and the TV provided the stations we needed. The Wi-Fi worked fine.
The apartment was clean and we had no issues with any of the ample amenities. If you are driving from Devon, a good place to stock up before getting to Boscastle is a huge Tesco in Liskeard. The local shops in Boscastle are good but somewhat limited.
Don't forget to either bring towels or have a local friend lend you some.
Our deposit was returned on time by the owners and we would certainly stay there again if we were lucky!

We received clear instructions on how to locate the property and door key, which we found in clean and tidy condition on our arrival. A fresh pint of milk in the fridge was a nice touch.
The cottage has a typical attractive stone-built exterior and a tastefully decorated and well-furnished interior. It has all appliances that you would expect to find in a holiday let, plus some that are less common like a washing machine, dryer and WIFI that works. The kitchen is unusually spacious and, even though it was a chilly November week, the storage heaters were more than adequate in keeping the cottage cosy. The allocated parking space and central location make this cottage very convenient for the amenities in the village.
Boscastle is a great place to stay when visiting Cornwall; there are some lovely local walks, and beautiful bays and beaches a short drive away. There are three local pubs that all serve real ales and have pretty decent menus. We had a number of meals locally and I was impressed with the quality of the food and the standard of catering. There is a wonderful community atmosphere here, with live music or singing several nights of the week.
Only drawback I can see is that there is no garden in the downstairs apartment. Not a problem in November, but would be nice in the summer months.

We spent a week at the old oil house and was extremely pleased with the accommodation. On arrival there was a welcome pack full of essential information about the property and also the local attractions, the property was very clean and tidy.
The two bed apartment is very spacious and is furnished to a high standard, it is in a great location for the local shops, restaurants, pubs, and harbour.
The apartment is well worth the money and I would certainly recommend it to my friends and family.

We travelled with our teenage Daughter and her friend. The cottage is excellent - lovely and clean and furnished to a very high standard. There was plenty of room for us all with nice bedrooms a wonderful kitchen and spacious living / dining room. Good location in the heart of boscastle.
Must also mention the local pub called the Cobweb which is about 100yds from the house. Great selection of real ales and a fantastic food menu. We had some great meals there and not too expensive either.
A wonderful relaxing weeks holiday.
