The vistors centre is about midway down the pedestrian road to the harbour. It is is a lovely spot along side the river and offers loads of information through displays, leaflets, and an information desk. It is attached to a National Trust shop and a small snack bar/cafe. It is a good place to get your bearings and to have a rest,

When visiting Boscastle this place must be your first stop.
I was amazed at the quantity and quality of the information available, not only on the history of the well know flooding but on so much more.
The literature is extensive on what there is to do not only in Boscastle but all around the locality.
The gift shop was better than the usual National Trust offerings and the tearoom/ eatery looked excellent, although we did not eat there.
Dogs were allowed throughout the building and the centre is open all year round.

We always visit this beautiful old village and harbour when in the area, now back to its best after the devastating floods of 2004.On this visit in October it was also the annual food & craft festival.
The harbour area is well preserved by the National Trust with superb scenic walks on the cliffs above with many superb photo opportunitys available, there are some interesting shops and buildings down by the harbour also a very interesting visitor centre and National Trust Shop and cafe, the festival also added to a very good day,a must visit when in Cornwall.

Especially moved by the video footage of the Boscastle floods of 2004 - awe inspiring footage of what water can do to destroy a village, thankfully no lives lost

I appreciated the exhibits at the Visitor Center (or Centre, as they say). Didn't even go in the gift store part. But my review is really about Cornwall in general and this nice town. You may already know this, but being from America, it took me an afternoon to realize: the Cornwall coast is all about walking along the coast and stopping in on the villages along the way for food/drink/bed. Wonderful idea that I wish I could have fulfilled. Next time. And there is a bus that runs the coast, so you can camp in Boscastle and hike either direction and catch the bus home.
