Boscastle is a lovely little place and The Riverside has a great location. Our visit didn't get off to the best start since the door bell wasn't working properly and the front door to the hotel is kept locked. Once we got inside the staff were friendly and showed us to our room. It's an old building and the stairs are quite steep, room 7 was down another small flight and was frankly tiny! Two adults and a suitcase filled the space. It was also creaky when you shuffled across the floor and rattled when the front door was closed firmly. On the other hand the bathroom was huge but only had a hand held shower and no shower curtain over the bath.We didn't have an evening meal there but the breakfast was stunning full table service, excellent quality and very attentive staff. We were only staying for one night had we been staying longer I would have requested a different room.I suspect that it may be a great place to stay if you avoid room 7.

Room Tip: Avoid room 7 !!!!!!!!!!!

We arrived in Boscastle on Sunday afternoon, had a look around and decided to try the riverside as it had good reviews, we were given room 2 which is very spacious with lovely views over the bridge and the river. The room was very clean and had everything that we needed, including blackout blinds on all 3 windows. We dined in the restaurant and were very pleased with the fish we had, the breakfast in the morning was great and came out very quickly as exactly as we asked for. All in all we found this to be a lovely place to stay.

We have recently returned from a three day trip to Cornwall ,where we stayed in a family room at The Riverside. The room was quite basic but very clean and comfortable. As previously mentioned in other reviews ,Breakfast and our evening meals were delicious ,with fantastic restaurant staff that couldn't do enough for you .One evening we had some family join us for dinner ( 7 people ) where most our guests had Lobster ,which they loved ! All our meals were beautifully presented.

A note - there is WIFI at the hotel but no mobile signal, or a phone in your room .So if you plan to meet up with family etc ,make sure they have email :)

Also the car park is free from 5pm to 10am the next day .We were informed of this when we checked in at 5.15pm having paid the £ 4.60 we didn't need to !

Room Tip: You are right on the driving river , where it sounds constantly as if its raining hard outside .I re...

Boscastle was a great choice for a base for day trips: not too touristy and not even obviously on the coast, but with great access to the gorgeous coast path. The inn was clean, comfy and convenient, with affordable parking close by and a bus stop for trips to Tintagel. The food in the inn's restaurant was first class. The service was low key, friendly and efficient...we had to miss the hot breakfast because of our early departure time, but a tray of cereal and fruit was brought to our room within ten minutes of our telling the staff.

I don't have much to add to other reviews really - it's a fantastic location, and very comfy, although the room was a bit snug for my 6ft 4in husband - however, we would definitely return.
The staff were so friendly and there is a really nice atmosphere which made it very welcoming.
Our room overlooked the river, which was in full flow, and I did wonder if it would be too noisy at night, as I am a very light sleeper - however, I found it incredibly soothing and really missed it once we returned home.
Fantastic breakfast - can easily see you through the day until a cream tea in the afternoon or even dinner at night! All in all, if we return to Boscastle, we'll definitely be going back here. Can't be beaten for location or value in our opinion.

We wanted a one night stop in this area and the Riverside justifiably lived up to the mainly favourable reviews. The staff were pleasant, the accommodation was comfortable and the food was very good (evening meal and breakfast). It is an ideal location to explore this part of north coast of Cornwall and Boscastle is well worth a visit as there are some excellent walks and in particular to hear about the recent terrible floods. The National Trust centre had a video showing the events.

Ideally situated in the middle of town. Very friendly and attentive staff and great value food of a high quality. Lunch was excellent.
For warm dry days there is a very attractive seating area reached across a small bridge over the river.
If you are visiting Boscastle this place is well worth your custom at any time.
