My husband treated me to 2 nights here for my birthday. It was hot & sunny throughout our stay which meant we didn't get more than a couple hours' sleep each night due to exceptional heat during the night. This didn't stop us partaking in what has to be the best asset Boscastle offers and that is coastal footpath walks (4hrs first day towards Crackington Haven & 7hrs to Tintagel and back the next). You won't find more stunning scenery in the world! Take walking poles though as the paths are almost vertical in some places & arduous. To be able to return to our quiet, clean and comfortable bedroom in the evenings was wonderful. Then to be served delicious 3 course dinner both nights was heaven especially as the staff are so friendly. We only chose seafood options every time as it is so fresh & beautifully cooked. Our only complaint would be everything seems to be served with the same salad each course & whether it's lunch time or evening. Some local seasonal Cornish vegetables & freshly baked bread as opposed to white baguettes would have been icing on the cake. The breakfasts really set us up for the day with fruit juice, cereals, (ask for alternative when booking if dairy allergic though), fish choices or traditional cooked breakfast & plenty of proper ground bean coffee or tea. On that subject the tea tray in the bedroom could do with decaf option and/or herbal drink. These are minor things compared to the overall experience of staying here. The B&B is right in the heart of Boscastle so after dinner it is lovely to be able to wander around the tasteful & unique gift shops & most importantly wander around the ancient harbour & listen to the blow hole & the birds before settling for bed. Thoroughly recommended to de-stress even when the weather is too hot to sleep!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Riverside! Our room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable, much better than many high end hotels we stayed in throughout the UK. The room and adjoining bathroom were very clean and tidy and everything was in perfect working order. The linens and room itself were a bit outdated, but we valued a nice clean quiet room over these cosmetic things. The room was VERY hot and stuffy though during the extremely warm temperatures outside during our stay. A fan in each room would have been appreciated, possibly something to consider for the future. The floors are quite creaky and noise travels easily between rooms so we were up early due to hearing those around us in the hotel. The food was very nice but expensive, especially if you want a quick bite to eat or a simple meal, we ate elsewhere a few times in the village. Breakfast is very large and tasty, and a nice bonus to have included in the price. We did find some of the dining room staff abrupt and somewhat abrasive when it came to ordering food. We felt rushed and hurried through our meals, especially breakfast. There is a big parking lot down the road that is easily accessible from the hotel, as there is no parking right on site. Also we were told by the manager to next time book directly with the hotel and not through www.booking.com as we would have gotten a better price. This was somewhat frustrating because if the hotel is tellings its guests this, they should not use booking.com, as I'm sure that this is how many of their guests discover their hotel and book their stay because it is most convenient. Overall a very nice stay!

My husband and I were here for a night on a day visit to Boscastle. We picked the perfect place and we both loved it just the same with all great things to say. There is parking down the block in the main car park for a small fee between 10a-5p. We got there after 5pm so didn't have to pay until the morning after checking out and packing our bags we paid for a couple of hours before heading back to roam around the town.

The hotel is set dead smack in the center of the town, right next to the river with gorgeous views all around. Our room was large with lots of space as well as a very large bathroom both very clean. There is no phone in the room, which was not a problem. Windows open and hotel provides toiletries and plenty fresh towels. Bed is big and very comfy. Shower has great water pressure. I did notice that there is not an air conditioner in the room so may be a little hot later in the summer months but it was perfect for us at the time we stayed sleeping with the windows open with no issue with noise. It was very quiet at night and surprisenly quiet in the morning being that our window was facing the main street with many people already out walking around. Couldn't hear any of it.

We had dinner in the hotel which was very delicious, large portions of food and they offer a catch of the day fresh from the harbour. Breakfast was just as delicous and plentiful also part of your nights stay. It kept us full way past lunch. We both would eat here again if ever visiting without a stay.

All in all the staff and owners were very friendly and helpful, the place was amazing and we will come back again if ever in the area.

Take a waunder to the Museum of Witchcraft, very interesting and historic. Also if you have time, a short drive (4 miles) to Tintagel is an awesome visit to another historic town with lots to see.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions about the hotel or area, I will be happy to help if I can. Please give my review a little click if it was helpful to you. :-) Thank you!

The Riverside, Boscastle, Cornwall

This is a charming hotel in a gorgeous Cornish village, as others have said. We had two comfortable rooms with all we needed. The view out of our windows was over the river, and directly below, rooting around in the burbling water, was a family of ducks, including two little ducklings. Very pleasant sounds to sleep and wake up to. The meal we had in their restaurant was excellent- we enjoyed several dishes of seafood in various forms. And wonderful breakfasts with meticulous and friendly service. It was good to have tea-making facilities in the room, and biscuits too. Our only problem was that we were there for the short period of the year when the UK has hot summer, and the rooms were up the top of the building, with small windows, and were very hot. We needed to keep our doors open most of the time we were in, to create a bit of a draft. Oh, and there were no easily accessible power points in our room- we needed to find the power board that the lamp was plugged into and co-opt that. But a lovely place to stay.

stayed for 1 night Tues 14th July. Fabulous location, right at the bottom of the main street- parking at the main car park (200 yds away was only £4.20 for 24 hours). Staff excellent, great room (room 9) comfy bed, and enormous bathroom (just a shower but fine for us). Good view down to the harbour, and over looking the main street, that is very quiet after day tourists have gone home. We did not eat dinner in the restaurant, only breakfast that was excellent and plentiful. Nice beer garden, terrace out the back, over a bridge and a fabulous spot to chill in the late evening sun with a vino ! Overall very good accommodation and service and well worth £85 that we paid. Would highly recommend and could not find fault.

This hotel was recommended on our travels by an ex staff member and it was excellent....Staff were lovely, happy and accomodating. Room was a good size, and so was bathroom, beds were very comfortable, wifi good. The only thing we did not like was our room was very hot (no airconditiong) even with windows open and there was large fan noises, which we discovered were the fans from the kitchen (they turn them off at 9.30 at night), so I would choose another room next time. This hotel has a lovely restaurant and the food is to die for! The deal they gave us $85 Pound per night, was much chepaer than the hotel behind this one which was $125 pound per night and the location of this hotel was absolutely perfect - absolutely worth staying here, or drop in for their food.

Room Tip: choose a room not above the restaurant

Bostcastle is a gorgeous place, which deserves a visit. And The Riverside was a great experience.
First the little small things: the exiting parking is public and a bit up the road (may be crowded at some times); there quite some steps in the house (may be a bit hard to carry large bags).
Good things: large and comfortable room, a very nice design keep traditional things and also with a practical and contemporary approach, reliable free wi-fi, big bathroom. Our room overlook the river, so during the night and morning it was very relaxing to ear just the birds and the water.
The staff and service was perfect. Breakfast is at the restaurant, and you have a good choice of cooked breakfast, cereals and juices.
We had dinner at The Riverside, in the garden, and it was great! The lobster and the fish were simply divine.
