“An awesome find - hidden gem”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

We stayed here on night (and having now seen this area, would love to return and stay again at this accommodation) on our way around the South of England and Wales.
An awesome nights stay in a nice room on the second at the back of the property, overlooking the babbling brook.
Only negative is the lack of parking, due to the location of the Riverside, and the layout of the village itself, parking would not be possible any closer than the Public Parking area which is about 30 metres along the road. Not far, but is a Pay and Display Carpark....which is a little off putting when staying at least overnight as you need to move your car out of the carpark before the Parking Warden arrives!!!! A parking permit for residence/guests would make this more attractive as an accommodation.
The onsite Restaurant provided excellent food, both for our evening diner and our Breakfast the following morning.
The service we received was very good, especially the young lad who booked us in when we arrived.
We walked around the Village in the evening and what an awesome place. Tucked in between cliffs and steeps hills, this cove with the sea coming in to meet the river provided a very romantic setting. The old building (most made of stone) added to this charm.
Despite the only negative (parking issue) we would fully recommend this to anyone and will be keen to stay here again on our next visit to the UK, and hopefully for more than one night

I booked this hotel as a birthday treat for my wife and we were so satisfied that I am re booking for another break for my birthday in November.

Our room overlooked the river and was a shower ensuite, well maintained and furnished.

The staff are polite, welcoming and approachable.

The breakfast was well presented and the staff couldn't do enough for you.

A very satisfying stay at a wonderful hotel in a wonderful area of Cornwall.

The hotel was awesome, right on the bridge and we had a triple aspect room overlooking the River from all sides. Stunning large room (Room 2) with all the amenities you'd expect from a larger chain hotel.
Staff were great, really friendly & helpful.

Will definitely stay here again

Room Tip: Room 2 is a triple aspect family room, simply awesome and lovely river noises help sing you to sleep

A fantastic place to stay - fabulous friendly helpful staff - very comfortable spacious room - quite a lot of stairs up to our room but worth it! The bed was huge and comfortable and everywhere clean - wouldn't hesitate to go back - or to recommend to others.

My wife and I were born in Australia but my wife's Grandmother came to Australia in the early 1900's so we go back to Boscastle every 2 years or so. This is our first stay in Boscastle itself as we usually stay at Port Isaac or Plymouth, but it won't be the last. The Riverside is a beautiful old style Cornish hotel with good size rooms and wonderful facilities. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was excellent and the meals and staff were outstanding with service and very friendly and welcoming. We stayed for 2 nights and had at least one Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner during our stay. The meals were beautiful and the beer was cold. A great Hotel and we will be staying there on our return in 2016. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so special.

Room Tip: Our room was on the street side and was wonderful.

My husband booked this as a birthday treat and we had the best room, overlooking the harbour, comfy beds, tea and coffee and complimentary toiletries, could not have asked for more, staff very polite and helpful and full english breakfast in the morning.

Room Tip: Great views from room 2

My husband treated me to 2 nights here for my birthday. It was hot & sunny throughout our stay which meant we didn't get more than a couple hours' sleep each night due to exceptional heat during the night. This didn't stop us partaking in what has to be the best asset Boscastle offers and that is coastal footpath walks (4hrs first day towards Crackington Haven & 7hrs to Tintagel and back the next). You won't find more stunning scenery in the world! Take walking poles though as the paths are almost vertical in some places & arduous. To be able to return to our quiet, clean and comfortable bedroom in the evenings was wonderful. Then to be served delicious 3 course dinner both nights was heaven especially as the staff are so friendly. We only chose seafood options every time as it is so fresh & beautifully cooked. Our only complaint would be everything seems to be served with the same salad each course & whether it's lunch time or evening. Some local seasonal Cornish vegetables & freshly baked bread as opposed to white baguettes would have been icing on the cake. The breakfasts really set us up for the day with fruit juice, cereals, (ask for alternative when booking if dairy allergic though), fish choices or traditional cooked breakfast & plenty of proper ground bean coffee or tea. On that subject the tea tray in the bedroom could do with decaf option and/or herbal drink. These are minor things compared to the overall experience of staying here. The B&B is right in the heart of Boscastle so after dinner it is lovely to be able to wander around the tasteful & unique gift shops & most importantly wander around the ancient harbour & listen to the blow hole & the birds before settling for bed. Thoroughly recommended to de-stress even when the weather is too hot to sleep!
