“Lovely quiet holiday park in a great location”
Reviewed 9 May 2014 via mobile

This is an improving holiday park in a great location. Good facilities, friendly staff, well kept grounds. Nice play area, lovely indoor pool, good small gym. So much to do the area, we find new things every visit. Best day out by far is Dingles heritage fairground in Lifton. We have been several times and always stay in privately owned lodge which has always been faultless. We like it here, it's not an all singing all dancing holiday park with entertainment so don't come if that's what you're after. It is a quiet base with good facilities for a lovely holiday. Suitable for everyone.

We stayed here for a week in a 4 bedroom lodge. The property itself was spacious however we encountered problems with the shower which would not regulate temperature, a DVD player which didn't work, broken kettle and no grill pan.

The bar and restaurant had just opened for the season but had limited menu, food served was luke warm and an obvious freezer meal reheated due to the amount of excess liquid on
the plate.

The grounds were quite untidy on arrival and lawns etc were mowed whilst there but grass was extremely long which meant wellies on to take dog out each day.

Swimming pool adequate though sauna out of action during stay. Changing facilities poor-very small with not much room for clothes etc. Very hard to get baby dressed after swimming as no buggies allowed and nowhere to put baby whilst getting changed yourself.

Picturesque part of the country but very disappointing holiday park. Charging high season prices when many things not up to scratch.

We at Honicombe are very sorry to hear that your stay with us did not live up to your expectations. The team at are always here to make sure any concerns are taken care of straight away. The DVD player & TV are brand new and I believe it was a problem with the lead which was rectified while you were here and the kettle and grill pan was replaced. Honicombe Manor is under a major refurbishment and we are always looking at new ways to make your stay enjoyable. The food is prepared to order and the grounds are cut on a weekly basis. I really do hope on your next stay you will find a significant improvement..

on arrival very warm welcome from ladies behind reception went down to lodge and when say went down its like the Himalayas then came back up to our lodge steps and and a walk to get there
Lodge itself was nice very clean and nice size rooms
We had a few problems with the heating and the shower which took a couple of days to sort out but other than that nice lodge loads of pillows and duvet's kitchen and lounge well thought out with loads of room and everything you could want the people before us seemed to have walked of with cable for the TV but handyman came and immediately put new box in. On the Sunday evening decided we would eat in the bar in main house you couldn't call it a restaurant really but after reception telling us that Sunday lunch was served between 12.00 and 20.00 we decided to go up at 18.00 hours standing by the bar a family before us were told they had run out of food OK if they had had a lot of people in for lunch but they were supposed to have a full restaurant menu as well seemed that just weren't interested so we sat down to finish our drinks and watch the large family have the last of the food well from the complaints coming from that table and you could see from the food on the plates the seemed to have split what was 4 portions into 7 and I was disgusted they had been ripped off as far as I could see we then left and did not enter again
The place is in the middle of nowhere is very steep over the whole site and you have to drive everywhere I personally would not go there again if you have elderly or disabled I would say its not a good choice but that is just my opinion

On arrival the reception was clean and tidy and we were greeted by a lovely lady who has been really helpful. The bar / restaurant is small but comfortable - the staff lead by Megan were on the whole helpful and friendly. The food was a standard bar menu but was reasonable priced and not to be grumbled about.
Swimming pool area (indoors) much talked about - the changing rooms were spotless although
Slightly different in lay out to the pool. The swimming pool was basic but clean and no adverse smell at all (could do with a few small slides for the kids) but they were happy enough.
The accommodation 5 star clean tidy all facilities could not find fault anything about it. It may have been recently refurbished as the site is embarking on an upgrade of accommodation.
Come and stay here if you want to have a good base for a holiday in a lovely setting with helpful and friendly staff. It is not a site for 18 hours a day full entertainmement but it’s relaxed very enjoyable.

Room Tip: St Cleers Lodges are lovely

We have just got back from a wonderful week holiday staying at this lodge in Honeycombe. I booked through welcome cottages very last minute and the owners were able to take us in literally with a day's notice.
The lodge itself was amazingly clean and tidy, in very good condition, we immediatly felt at home. The owners had thought of everything you could possibly need for your stay, I was very impressed!
We arrived to tea, coffee facilites that were laid out for us and fresh flowers plus some meter money which we thought was very thoughtful by the owners. The beds were beautifully made up and the rooms clean, the kitchen was very well catered for also.
My little 18 month old loved the box with all the toys and dinosaurs that were there, plus childrens books, and the stair gates were obviously a great idea. Also the fact that the lodge is dog friendly was a bonus for us although they are not alllowed upstairs or in the rooms, this wasn't a problem for us. It is perfectly located to use as a base to explore the area.
We loved the donkey sanctuary which is just up the road, my little boy just loved it there, worth going if you have little ones as they have an indoor play area and outdoor play area also.
Louis tea rooms just up the road towards Callington does amazing food, possibly the largest cream tea I have ever seen!
We visited Tintagel Castle, Port Isaac, Jamaica Inn, Eden Project which is definetly worth going to and we also did Bodmin steam railway, all these places are dog friendly.
I would have no hesitation to return to this lodge as we loved it there so relaxing!.
My review is only on this lodge as we didn't use the facilities of the park whilst we were there, we only ate at the restaurant twice and the food was very good.
I can understand the reviews from other people in reference to the park facilities though as they did look a little dated! but this really didn't bother us as we were only there for the lodge and were out every day.
If you are looking for somewhere to just relax and use as a base then this is the place to stay!

Me and my husband came to honicoombe manor as a last minute break away. We just wanted some where to relax this is
The place for that. We had a st clear lodge with a hot tub and it was great. The lodge is very big and had three spacious bedrooms. We immediately felt comfy and at home here. Honicoombe is nestled in woodland and is so serene and beautiful. This is perfect if you want peace and quiet. We came off season really so really enjoyed having the park pretty much to ourselves. The hot tub is highly recommended. We visited the bar/restaurant a few nights it looks like your usual pub and maybe could do with a revamp. Saying that the gentleman who ran the bar was just brilliant. He was very friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for you a real asset to the manor. The food was reasonably priced and we was suprised at how delicious it was. Perfectly cooked steak so definitely try that. The park was obviously in stages of renovation they was working on the outdoor pool. They clearly have alot of work to still do here but its nothing to put you off staying its just one of those things. Overall this maybe isnt a place for families with small children as its quiet and most things are a drive away. Its situated at the start of cornwall and we had lovely adventures and drives out. The surrounding area is just stunning and Tavistock is close by which is a lovely little town. We even drove to Newquay and dawlish warren roughly an hour away. If you are happy to drive lots of places to see. We had a great holiday and would definitely come back again.
