“Ideal for a big group short getaway”
Reviewed 2 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

I rented 2 of the available plots in the Trehill complex, Gulliver cottage and Owls Roost in order to have a large reunion weekend.
The service and communication was perfect the I rate 4 for the location as you need a car to do most things outside the cottages area. But the the cottage area is beautiful, very well established photos can't do it justice on a sunny day!
The owners who manage live on site are great hosts. And all the cottages are very well equipped in kitchens. Good beds.

“Great stay, lovely house and grounds”
Reviewed 22 May 2014 for a stay in March 2014

Stayed here with friends and family in Mar. Were klucky because there was a heat wave. The house is gorgeous. It has a true country fill. Kitchen was large and very well equiped- didn't need my own scales!

The lake is nice as well but the owners do not allow live bait. The donkey is nice as well. Neville had a log fire lit up ready for us on arrival. Bathrooms and bedriims were clean. It was like home from home. The only down side was that it was rather cold and we ran out of wood on day 3 and there was none left. So if you go in winter take extra clothes.

The hot tub was great as well. Very quite and relaxing.

Thank you for your kind comments & we are delighted you enjoyed your stay. We are also pleased to announce that we have installed a new central heating system, which will not only ensure that ALL our cottages are warm year round, but also helps contribute to the environment as it is a super-modern biomass boiler!

“Excellent accommodation in an amazing setting, rude landlady”
Reviewed 4 November 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Have just spent the weekend at this amazing location. As a group we stayed in Gulliver which sleeps 12 people and has a hot tub attached to it. I was there with female members of my family and close friends of my sister to celebrate her upcoming wedding. We wanted a calm tranquil relaxing setting to chill out and pamper ourselves and this place was perfect. Gulliver is beautiful inside and out and is of a very high standard, it is very spacious and a fantastic house for a large group. We were very happy with the accommodation and I would happily recommend this property to anybody.

There were a few minor issues during our stay, a couples of small things and one major problem.
Minor issues - no phone signal and wifi comes and goes, this was not a problem for us, however if anybody was stating there and were reliant on phone signal or wifi it is better to be prepared. You do not have to go far outside to get a phone signal
- One of the reasons we booked this particular place was due to the fantastic deal they had with China Fleet as we wanted a girly morning using the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, however due to refurbishment this was not available. This was not any fault of the hosts and Neville was very helpful in giving us other suggestions, but we had already made other plans at the near by St Mellion Health Club, which was lovely.
- We planned a dinner party on the Saturday night and the cooker due to use no longer has any temperature markings on it, when I asked the landlady how to use the cooker she informed me it was pretty self explanatory, which it wasn't and took a while to cook...which brings me on to the one problem we had with the weekend........
Neville the landlord was very friendly, polite and helpful. He was very accommodating and a fantastic host, Frances on the other hand was very rude to the whole party.
On arrival at 2.30, the time that had been agreed, the cottage was not quite ready for us and Neville was very apologetic and we were more than happy to wait. We did not have to wait more than 5 minutes, when we got into the cottage, I can only presume it was Frances, (there was no introduction) snapped at us, was very grumpy and practically threw the key to the cottage to us over the table. Then on check out she was rude once again to my mum telling her she hoped we had left the cottage spotless. I am not sure what the problem she had with our group was as I had been in communication with Neville several times from the point of booking up to our arrival and they were completely aware of what we had planned.
It was a shame, but did not ruin our weekend, Neville and the accommodation are amazing, top rate and the donkey's an added bonus!

Dear guest, many thanks for your kind comments & we are delighted that you enjoyed yourselves. We apologise if you though your welcome was not up to scratch. Poor Frances had really bad back pains that month & with the best will in the world, we sometimes fail to live up to our standards when we are in pain. It was my (Neville's) fault for not insisting that she remained inside that day. We usually pride ourselves on the quality of our welcome.
Wifi & phone reception in Cornwall can be a bit iffy, but we have now installed fibre optic broadband at Trehill, so we are confident that speeds and reliability should be significantly improved in future. Thanks again for coming to stay.

This is just a note to say that the owners of these cottages are very professional and understanding. We had a slight mishap with our booking--completely our fault, nothing to do with the proprietor--and Frances and Neville quickly fixed the situation and sorted everything out. We are really very grateful and look forward to a future stay here!
