We stayed in the gullivers cottage(see separate review). Family either stayed with us or took one of the other cottages (lakeside & owlsroost) Great location for doing things. Loved the fishing and at the end of the weekend no one wanted to go home!
Special thanks to the enchanting donkey, snowy who gladly ate all our leftover apples and carots
9 of us stayed at Gulliver Cottage from 18-25th August 2018.
This property is spacious and extremely well equipped, it was clean and in very good decorative order.
The location is great, rural but less than 5 minutes away from all amenities.
The outside space and facilities were great, fishing was good and we were able to set up our own volley ball and badminton net on the green area provided for guests.
The outdoor pool is more of a paddling pool for very young children.
The games room is great as is the variety of games, puzzles and DVDs available in the property.
The Washing and drying facilities were really helpful too.
Firstly thank you very much what a wonderful place you have! The views are awesome!
We had two cottages in total both clean and tidy when we arrived and absolutely massive! We had a walk around the site to find one indoor pool and a outdoor pool, hot tub which we had and used regularly! We had absolutely no issues with anything just wish I had bought a fishing rod some of those fish are huge! Great location everyone had a really good time!
I will be booking again this time with my family. Thanks again for a wonderful weekend!

Great weekend away with friends. The owner could not have been more helpful. Made sure there was wood for the fire, the cottages were warm & the hot tubs were ready to go.
The China Fleet club is a bit of a drive away, but worth the trip as the varity of things to do there is huge. We just used the pool and spa area (very good indeed), but the gym looked awesome & we were even tempted to hire a basket ball court for a bit of one on one!
I booked this property short notice really, As my partner was turning 50 we looked at going abroad but two of our grandchildren could not get passports in time.
On air bnb I Had seen very nice pictures of the cottages and the grounds looked great for what i wanted and been a family who spent a couple of weeks every year in Cornwall it made good sense to book here.
As a large family 12 of us we had the three cottages next to lake we all had ample room in each cottage.
I shared Hawthorn with my partner, step daughter and three grandchildren, my only complaints here is there is not enough kitchen storage space for food items, and the kitchen a bit small if there is two of you cooking.
The doors all squeak but then you are in the country side although easily remedied with some WD40.
The gutters are blocked up with mud, leaves etc. been winter i understand but this is more than one seasons fall, when it rained it was like a waterfall in the from area.
The other two cottages where comfortable the middle been used by my 2nd step daughter her partner and my teenage daughter, could do with TV upgrade as in winter one may like to take a games console and play games etc ...no hdmi NOT THE END OF THE WORLD I KNOW .....
The first one been used by my inlaws ...... Brilliant for them ....
The indoor pool area is good fun for the little ones and has a hot tub, it is not the biggest of pools but as it is indoors is a bonus although the water temperature could have been just a bit warmer ... cold for indoor pool water ... yes it does not say heated pool so i guess you get what you get.
The Gym area ...... this is the sore point .... My mother in law asked twice for this to be opened ... it never was as my daughters partner and i try train as often as possible it was another reason we booked this property ... we never did get the use out of the gym although looked impressive on photo .... it is small and has essential training bits .... no free weights ... but has a multi gym .... i could only see that much though the window.
The games area ..... I will not comment on this ... it would be unfair as we did not use it ... it was far to cold to be in there, no heating.
The fishing ponds ..... I wish we had more information on the rules, we could not use spike rod rests, so it was left to holding the rod while fishing, two nice small lakes in need in aerating lots of small branches etc in the ponds ....
Internet ---- WIFI ... Day one ... slow ..... day two ...slow and intermittent .... day three ..... slow and intermittent .... the mother in law tried to speak to owners ... no one was in ... "NOT Complaining" just wish there was an easier way of having to reset the router as once this was done it was ok ...
Be advised you are in the sticks here ..... phone signal is dismal .... standard free view channels on tv ..... plenty of free dvds to use though for kids ...
The village is 5 min drive if that ......
All in all it was ok ... i guess in the summer months it will be a great place to visit ... it does need some maintenance doing .... some more desperate than others.
owners could be a little more approachable ..... "it is either a quick fix or no fix" as i was told regarding the internet ....
To many warning signs ..... don't and do's .... yes i understand there needs to be rules .... but if you rent out accommodation to adults ...we don't need to see rules stuck up every ware ...like been at summer camp ...
PS the donkey is great warning system for fisher man if some one is approaching ...
pps a little bit expensive for what we thought we would have and what we got ...
When we booked in we were welcomed by the owner who was a very friendly lady who showed us to the cottage and went through some details. The cottage itself Lakeside was a surprise, it was very clean and spacious. Stone floor , brick and beams made it feel very cosy. Upstairs were 3 bedrooms and 2 shower rooms once again spotless and towels and bedding were supplied. There were 2 decks one outside and only 6 foot from the fishing lake and one in the master bedroom over looking the lake. Everything was supplied to make our stay for the week a pleasure. We have already said we will be returning to Trehill Cottages again when in Cornwall
This was a (very peaceful) getaway with male friends before wedding in december. once the hosts were aware that this was just a quiet weekend with friends, and not a traditional stag do, they could not have been more helpful. The place itself was comfortable and warm. We all did a bit of fishing and used the China Fleet health club (very good). They also pointed us in the right direction for pubs, walks etc.
