“Not bad but room for improvement”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2012

The villa is more like an old Butlins type chalet and was rather damp smelling - very simple but was equipped with everything we needed and clean. The grounds aren't very lit so it feels really creepy at night so definitely in need of more external lighting. Pool was nice but could have done with being a bit more heated as it was incredibly cold. The supposed wifi is awful and sporadic at best, we also had no phone or 3G in this locale. Villa has DVD player but hotel has no DVD's which seems a bit silly. Lovely beach nearby though and very peaceful. 4pm seems late for a check-in however.

We were booked into one of the 'holiday villas'. We booked last minute and were told that they were half price because of a lack of demand due the olympics. When we arrived it was clear why there was a lack of demand. The villa we were allocated was on a steep hillside and it was not possile to get the car within a reasonable distance. The villa was an outdated flat roofed building that was damp, dirty and not what we were expecting. the website shows photo's of nice clean bright rooms with modern furninshings. In fact the 'villa' was dingy with rear rooms looking onto a steep hillside, the furninshing was extremely basic and the settee was ripped and stained. The carpet had not been hoovered and there were hairs and dirt on the kitchen sides. The whole villa smelt extremely damp with stains on some of the walls. The bathroom did look reaonsably new and clean however. The owners were very polite nice people, and our guess is that they knew that the accommodation was not up to standard as when we asked for a full refund, they obliged immediately. We were then left having to find alternative accommodation with two children and after a 300 mile journey. Luckily we found a fantastic static caravan at St Mabyn campsite nearby and enjoyed the rest of our holiday. Although we cannot speak for the lodges or the hotel accommodation and did not try the food, we would definitely not recommend staying in the villa's.

We booked this place originally for October but had to cancel. The hotel owners were extremely accommodating in switching it to Easter.

We stayed in a wooden lodge (no 11) ,which was a decent size and well appointed , although a little chilly at night.

Its also very very quiet at night.

The beds aren't the most comfortable, and the Sky sports channels were not available as advertised.
The bathroom and kitchen were clean although a new toilet brush wouldn't go a miss.
Had a look around the facilities and grounds.Certain areas,as others have mentioned could do with a face lift and touch and brush up.The whole place externally needs some TLC .This would make a huge difference to the sites appeal.Simple things such as leaf raking, shrub pruning and wiping off green moss from plastic facias and gutters would help. After all simple house keeping failures cause a much bigger problems.
The childrens small adventure playground is in a very poor state, with worn chains on the wooden bridge and rotten timbers on most of the componants.Very dangerous.
The hotel should really look at this as they would be liable for any accidents due to its poor state.

Lanteglos is perfectly situated to explore North Cornwall, which was our intention.
We visited Padstow,Rock,Mevagissey,St. Austell ,Trebarwith,Tintagel and Newquay. All of which are within easy reach.

We wouldn't stay here again,as We prefer a coastal position. You have to get in the car for the simplest of things.

Room Tip: Book a lodge. Glad we did , the villas look extremely dated.

We have stayed in Lodge three for several years in a row and have had wonderful holidays. It is close to Trebearwith and Polzeath beaches, near Wadebridge for the cinema and lots of great pubs around. The restaurant at the hotel is great too. Very safe for children, ours have made new friends there every year.

We have just come back from a weeks stay at a lodge at Langelos, Camelford. 2 adults and 2 children.

Plus points : it was in a very beautiful setting, very peaceful (a bit too peaceful if you like the hustle and bustle)

Negatives : the whole place just had a very dated feel to it - coloured bathroom suite, doors in bedroom and kitchen didn't close properly, not enough crockery or cutlery, small fridge that froze everything if it touched the back of the fridge. Pool was FREEZING - kids had blue lips after being in there for 15 minutes.

There were too many 'rules' for my liking - kids not allowed in certain areas after a certain time, code needed for swimming pool (which I NEVER remembered so didn't bother going again), only 2 hours 'surfing' on the internet then a 4 hour cool down period (not allowed to download videos, images or files).

Nothing for the kids to do, clubhouse was closed EVERY night, play area was very old and dirty. I wouldn't let them play on it. Tennis court was covered in leaves, bark etc. so obviously hadn't been used. The badminton court was used as a car park overflow.

We wont be going back.

Decided to book one of Laneglos "Villas" at the last minute as the forcast was so poor for camping - consequently only paid £375 as opposed to the list price which was £600+ - the positives 1st. The accomodation was clean & there was plenty of hot water. Negatives, Poorly equipped i.e. only 3 breakfast bowls no oven gloves, the apartment looked worn & dated also very small, no outside chairs provided, the site seemed to lack atmosphere. Grounds generally clean & well maintained, some concrete paths deteriorating. This especially noticeable in the pool (unheated) area where loose stones could cause an injury/hurt to bear feet.
There's various types of accomodation on offer at Lanteglos, the hotel, lodges & the "villas" (really 1960,s style chalets) in which we stayed. At the list price this type of accomodation does not represent value for money. We stayed in "villa" number 19. We did not frequent the restaurant in the hotel.
