Although the weather was far from great, we still had a lovely week at Trevella. The caravan was comfortable and clean and although a bit cramped for six of us, we managed ok. The bedding was not there as requested when we arrived, but on mentioning this to Reception, it was sorted very quickly and with no fuss. Overall the site has a nice spacious feel and all the staff are lovely and friendly. I don't like to criticise but we did find the shop a bit basic and very expensive. I appreciate there is always a mark up in these shops but some of the prices were over the top and the range of goods extremely limited. We tried the takeaway once and I'm sorry to say we feel it was extortionate. I paid £4.99 for 4 chicken nuggets and a handful of chips, and when we opened the huge boxes that the cod and chips came in, we just laughed, as the portions were tiny. Suffice to say we had to fill up on something else! Apart from that the site is fine though, and the location is brilliant for the lovely beach at Crantock. We would return but would shop at the local Morrisons, and choose an alternative Fish and Chip shop :)

We love Trevella. The campsite is very well maintained with beautiful flowers everywhere. The toilets and showers are kept very clean, which is what we judge a campsite on and why we keep returning to Trevella. Just one disappointment was that you have taken the camping area away from Foxhole and instead installed mobile homes. The camping area is getting smaller and smaller and is now only on the hill which is very exposed to windy weather. There just happened to be a storm during our stay this year and our awning was severely damaged. This won't stop us returning to your lovely campsite though. See you next year!

Trevella is in a great location moments from some if Cornwall best beaches and with Newquay on the door step there is plenty to do on cloudy days.

Given its location and popularity the park is very busy in high season and the camping fields are cramped. We bring our caravan and would recommend the premium pitch for extra space. We are currently on a standard size all service pitch and our neighbours are literally on the door step!.

Like other reviews I question the future of touring pitches here, the new ownership do not appear to understand the needs of their camping customers and little has been done to improve this end of the park. There are not enough showers, regular queues, when you get one you will lucky if water power is sufficient. A chemical waste point was shut down this year leaving just 2 locations across a very big area. There are no emergency caravan supplies in the shop; such as blue / pink toilet chems / gas supplies etc. "we were told to try another campsite up the road" having just driven for 6 hours. There has however been a continued investment and expansion in the static business. So all I all pretty average but lovelly location.

Thank you for your comments and I am glad you enjoyed our stunning location here in Cornwall. I have taken your comments on board regarding our camping areas and I will consider what we can do to improve things in that area for the future. I am sorry to hear that it was not made clear to you that although we do not have a high stock holding of chemicals, we do always have camping supplies including gas etc at the rear of our shop. Please be asured that going forward we very much see camping as a valued and integral part of Trevella's future plans, and we look forward to seeing you again on your next visit some time in the near future.

Very clean and quiet site, with lots of space and walks, just what you need to unwind. Pitches are a great size and play parks and swimming pool are great. Had fun playing the crazy golf . Didn't use the lakes as not a Fisher but looked popular.

First time in many years we havent rebooked for the following year there is massive room for improvements so Trevella should lower the price to lower the expectation if they dont improve the facilities ASAP.

Swimming Pool

Dirty and murky even though it was high season it was not cleaned regularly enough, there is no lifeguard however staff should still monitor useage as it was very oversubscribed at high season . Ok for little ones but far too shallow for over 8s or adults to swim.

Shop

Useless , Trevella need to offer this out as a franchise to provide a good service to their customers, its a goldmine however it is poorly stocked and overpriced if i had it i would sell more fresh bread and hot food i.e pasties a larger variety of goods, more local and fresh produce and pocket money toys its a dead loss all the bars of chocolate had melted , fridge empty apart from milk and poor selection of tins.

Pitches

Mowing left to last minute resulted in grass all over your van/awning , chaos on check in office staff not communicating with ground staff.

Toilets/showers

Dont like young lads with foul language cleaning ladies toilets when young girls are having showers i feel the older ladies should clean and replenish the ladies when the toilets havent been closed for cleaning if they actually close them for cleaning as they do sometimes it doesnt matter but dont like them wandering in and out restocking loo roll etc when they are still in use. Showers need cleaning more often in peak holiday times as 2 toilets blocks are oversubscribed at these times pretty poor

Bins

Need emptying more regularly in hot weather and peak season they were overflowing

Play park

Supposed to be shut at 9pm still open at 10.40pm one night , gangs of kids as old as 17 on it really feel it should be for under 12s only , tyre swing been removed this year the adventure park is too small and outdated to cope with the amount of kids that use it . Mayve make the delapitated TV room into a teenage hangout as its away from pitches and is used for nothing currently.

All in all for the cost disappointing Trevella has led the way for a long time however their are better equipped tidier parks in the vicinity that are cheaper i fear touring will be abolished by owners by 2017 this is mainly now a static park with a very crowded inadequate camping area with old weathered old fashioned facilities for a high cost will try somewhere else next time this is an honest unbiased review as previously have rated it 4 and 5 star in other years needs some money time and enthusiam putting into it

Room Tip: Choose a premium pitch if u can get it not as cramped

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear of your disappointment following your most recent visit, please see my responses below regarding your points raised:-
Our swimming pool is cleaned daily and constantly monitored for safety, but the water as in any pool can get discoloured subject to sunlight and usage, which we do monitor daily.
I am not sure what day you visited, but I was surprised at some of your comments regarding our shop as it does sell fresh bread, hot food including croissants and pastries daily, and our range of local pasties is our most popular biggest seller.
The shop does get hot at times given our extremely hot weather and without air conditioning we do our best to keep it ventilated.
Regarding pitches, at peak times when pitches have been occupied all week, grass cutting is only possible when they have been vacated, this meaning primarily changeover days. We also do our best for guests who request early check-ins which we do our best to accommodate.
Regarding our toilets/shower blocks we do have signage stating male attandants as has been the case for many years, I apologise if there were any members of our team using bad language and I will look into this matter further.
We have 45 bins on park at any one time sited at various locations and we do manage their levels, however this is very much subject to demand.
The play park is locked and closed every night at 9pm, and please let us know should you see anyone accessing it after this time.
I am sorry that your overall break fell below your expectations on this ocassion, and if you can contact me directly I will be happy to consider what I can possibly do to retain you as one of our valued customers, and hope that you choose to stay with us again in the future.
