Crantock is reached via a steep climb up from the National Trust car park through the sand but is well worth it. When the tide is out it is just huge and beautiful to walk on or just sit and watch the mesmerising waves. We visited on a Sunday morning and there were actually more dogs than people.

All the beaches are beautiful of course but we loved Crantock- we walked down from the Bowgie Inn to walk off our dinner and loved it. It is huge and beautiful. There are no facilities when you are down there but love that it isn’t too busy.

Wow, what a beautiful beach hidden away.

About 15 minutes drive from Hendra Holiday Park.

There is a national trust car park which is free to members. A toilet block in the car park and looks like a surf school as well.

A few mins walk from the carpark over the dunes and your on the beach.

The river Gunnel flows into the sea here .

The beach is clean, kayaks were in the river part and body boarders in the sea.

If we return to Cornwall we will definitely head to this beach with the family and our kayaks.

This beach is one of the best in this area. With big sand dunes and a river coming down the estuary to the beach it’s got everything to keep the kids happy.

We picked a lousy day to go to the beach as it was cold and wet but to be honest, once we got into the sea you didn’t notice. Parking is easy enough (it’s free as a national trust member) and there are lifeguards present in summer so you can safely swim or bodyboard between the flags.

Beautiful sand beach, absolutely massive, we arrived when the tide was out and it took us around 15 minutes from stepping foot on the beach to reach the waters edge.

Perfectly clean, no noise other than the ocean and the breeze, toilets in main car park, and big sand dunes should you want to go walking over them.

Super beach. Fabulous sand dunes and views , there is a small shop of you need a ball or bucket , a surf school , parking (if you are early) and even an army truck that sells decent coffee ..
