“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2012

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights from 24 August 2012-27 August 2012. It is a family run hotel and the owners are absolutely lovely.

The views, which both the conservatory and breakfast area benefit from are amazing. The hotel has a really lovely cosy homely feel to it and the owners could not have done any more to welcome us and accomodate our needs. We arrived quite late on the Friday night (around 1145pm) due to delayed flights which unfortunately meant that the owners had to wait up for us, but they were welcoming and undertanding.

Breakfast was very enjoyable, with a full english breakfast available, but also cereals, toast, croissants, and boiled egg and soldiers.

There is a really nice small bar area at the back of the hotel which was quiet and relaxing to sit in and chat with friends. We spent some time chatting to the owners in the bar and found out all about the local cornish ales (especially Betty Stoggs and her sister). We were captivated by this, and subsequently all tried a glass of Betty during the course of our holiday....even those of us who don't normally drink ale!

I would recommend having a wander around the village of Crantock itself while you are there, there are a number of thatched cottages and lovely village pubs to investigate.

I was in a party of 7 people, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I stayed in a family room, which was a good size and consited of a double bed, a single bed and a sofa bed. The room also benefitted from the beautiful view.

I will certainly be recommending this place to friends and family, and I would stay here again if I'm ever in the area.

Having just returned from a long weekend stay at the Fairbank Hotel, I can honestly say there are no faults! We were made to feel welcome in to the family run hotel from the moment we walked through the door. Elaine could not do enough to help, making restaurant reservations and booking taxis. (You must try Odds Restaurant, truly scrummy) The local area is a delight, with local pubs within easy walking distant serving good food. Crantock beach is a 10 minute walk away and is great for exploring the caves and a spot of crabbing. We had a double room over looking Crantock beach, it had a good size bathroom with a lovely powerful shower. What more could you ask for, lying in bed looking at the waves crashing in, couldn’t be any more relaxing. We will defiantly be returning

The welcome, the comfort, the service, the food and the views all absolutely 5 *. This was our third visit to the Fairbank and we stayed for over 2 weeks. The hotel is ideally situated in our favourite village with breathtaking views and several idyllic beaches and scenic walks very nearby. We didn't use the car for 9 days. Once again we had a wonderful and relaxing holiday at the Fairbank and hope to return soon..

We spent 4 nights at the Fairbank and had a fantastic time. The hotel is in the perfect location in the village of Crantock and the hosts are very friendly, welcoming and helpful and this ensured we had a nice relaxing stay. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the lovely village of Crantock and arguably one of Cornwall's best beaches and there are several lovely walks and sights to see nearby too. We spent a lot of time travelling around while we were there, but the time we spent in the hotel itself was just what we needed in between the travelling. The room we stayed in (Constantine) was very clean, comfortable and had a fantastic view which was nice to look out to every morning. The breakfast was outstanding with everything you could want available to choose from. All the food was very nice and set us both up for the day and the service at breakfast time was excellent and friendly. We spent a couple of evenings also in the bar and the atmosphere in there was very friendly and relaxing. We will definately return and maybe take the little ones with us next time.

Crantock has some amazing beaches nearby, Polly Joke being one of the best beaches I have ever been to with its caves, fallen rocks for climbing on, dunes, rock pools and stream that runs through from the inland to the sea itself which has some amazing waves as high tide rolls in. Even better, we were visiting in mid-August and there were so few people around that you had an entire section of beach to yourself. Crantock is only about 7 miles from Newquay and after visiting the crowded touristy beaches of Newquay I wanted to go straight back to Holywell, Crantock or Polly Joke beach!

Crantock itself has a 3 pubs which have a good selection of ciders/beers and good food, the best of the bunch is probably the Bowgie pub (pronounced bow-jee if you were wondering!) which overlooks Crantock beach from up high and is a 5 minute walk from the Fairbanks Hotel. The other two pubs are in Crantock village itself and actually face each other. There is only one cash machine in the village in the Londis convenience store and it charges £1.75, however you can get cash back on your debit card there.

The Fairbanks itself is an absolute gem of a place, I travelled with 3 other friends and we had the two twin rooms, Kelsey and Cubert. Both were comfy and clean with modern bathrooms and fittings (Kelsey being the slightly better room with its lighter decorating, slightly bigger size and sea view) breakfast in the morning was delicious and the owners were really friendly, helping us plan out walking routes and places to go. Parking is a minor issue with double parking often needed but since all the guests are in the same boat we never found this an issue at all! Everything throughout the hotel was clean and modern, our rooms were made up every day, absolutely faultless.
