“Lovely food, shabby chic surroundings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2014

I was feeling very back-achy and tired and starving hungry. I was given a lovely meal in the sunshine and was told where to get a massage from! What more can you ask for?

“Excellent for Vegans and Dog Lovers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 November 2013

To find such wonderful vegan food in a pleasant cafe that was also happy to accept dogs is quite a rarity.

We very much appreciated the food, service and lovely atmosphere, as well as the interesting mix of items for sale from food to clothes!

We visited twice in the day, first for lunch a really interesting and delicous burger with an equally thoughtful and unsual salad, as well as very tasty potato wedges. This was followed by an even more pleasing ginger cake served warm with vegan ice cream.

Seeing the scones on the counter encouraged us to return later for a 'Cornish Cream Tea' and we weren't disappointed either with the texture and flavour of the scone or the really good vegan cream and jam served with it. The hot chocolate also desrves pretty high marks.

Highly recommended. If I lived anywhere close I would be a regular!

“Misleading as we eat meat”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2013 via mobile

We thought Johnny's cafe was just a normal cafe from what we could see. Had no idea it was aimed at vegeterian/ vegans we felt very dissapointed when our breakfast turned up with a solitary quorn sausage

“Vintage vegetarian”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2013

Chanced upon this small cafe in Hayle's Penpol Terrace by accident; it's situated in a row of terrace houses, overlooking the river estuary. There are 2 tables on the terrace, overlooking the road and plenty of room inside with easy chairs and local literature and papers to read. The decoration is "rustic" and the furniture quirky . . . we sat at what looked like an old school table with matching chairs! We were offered a varied lunch menu by a friendly, French, waitress. The salad which came with our panini was very good - fresh, and with nuts and grated courgette as well as the usual leaves. We had a leisurely coffee and looked at the local crafts also on sale - jewellery, cards, linen garments, bags and a range of organic foods. The toilet(spotlessly clean) was of the same "vintage" era - how many of the younger generation would recognise a cistern, high on the wall, with a rope pull! Would certainly visit this cafe again and recommend it to vegetarian visiting friends.
