Just got home from staying at this lovely place, highly recommend this place. The staff including management where very friendly & welcoming, lovely atmosphere, good quality food- nice portions and plenty of choice. We stayed in one of the lodges, very clean and well presented. Can not fault this place, will hopefully visit again.

I have stayed here on numerous occassion both for business and pleasure. Every time the needs of that particular visit have been easily exceeded. For both it is perfectly located and the food is excellent.
The service I received was top draw and on those quite times I have been asked what time I would like breakfast rather than be informed when it would be served as I have in the past at other establishments.
The rooms have everything you would need and I can certainly recommend those which overlook the eastuary, which provide a great view and even have their own patio set to set outside to enjoy the view.
Overall a great place to stay whatever the occassion and a big thank you to Trevor, Margaret and the staff for all their help. Look forward to seeing you again!!!

We took 30 guest for the evening of 20th for our annual Christmas party.

Some stayed the night and spent a relaxing morning afterwards, having a leisurely breakfast and recovering form the previous nights excesses.

The Party atmosphere was great [in the new function area] and everybody had a good time. The food that was served to our tables was exceptional for a function. Even the sprouts were firm and sweet. One person commented that they hated sprouts but liked these. Praise indeed.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the estuary. You can even feed the swans at high tide. Very peaceful and...

We stayed here in July for 5 nights. The room we had overlooked the estuary and was very nice although quite small.

The gardens were lovely was a bit disappointed with the laid back attitude and presentation of the staff. They were friendly to a point but they need to take some lessons in presentation. They all looked like they'd gotten dressed in a hurry or would rather have been somewhere else. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss. Some days very quick then other days slower than a wet week and for no apparent reason. And they have a seemingly pointless system of asking you what you want for breakfast the minute you check in, then paying no attention to your request when you do go in for breakfast.

A good selection of local beers and wine but the bar area really needs a rethink. There are too many eating tables in there so if you just wanted to go for a drink with a group there are really only a few couches right in the middle of the room you could use. It would be better if they moved the diners out to the restaurant completely and leave the bar to social groups having a drink.

Overall it's not bad. It's in a lovely spot but I think it's over-priced and they need to lift their game a bit, given that the summer season is so short. They could do so much more with the place.

Room Tip: A room facing the estuary so you can watch the birds and the tide coming in and out.

It was a delight to return to an old haunt and find it in safe hands once again. From booking with Margaret at the telephone to our departure for a flight to the Isles of Scilly we were well looked after and totally satisfied. The "garden lodges" work well, providing a quiet retreat from the main bar/restaurant and ours was delightfully decorated and well equipped. The food is "gastro-pub" style but with the option of staying in the bar or moving to a really nice conservatory styled area. An excellent breakfast, with no delays, so ideal for travellers moving on. Highly recommended for bird watchers as the tide brings the estuary birds right up to your room and there is a full day of excellent birding within easy walking distance. A very easy place to like. If you don't need a room then still worth popping in for a morning coffee or lunch.

Return visitors after some time since our last visit, we were pleasantly surprised by the new broom approach to almost everything. The staff were helpful, polite and friendly and the refitted rooms fresh and modern. The grounds were very tidy and orderly and the restaurant/breakfast room was spacious and clean. The evening menu was a little plain but that is the only criticism if you discount the lady owners insistence on repeating your previous days breakfast order if you have not amended. How many full English breakfasts can you eat! The views from the rooms with estuary facing patios are stunning, and eerie migrating bird calls late at night just add to the experience. Overall 10/10

Room Tip: The sole estuary facing room with large private patio, although the shared still have the same view.

Lovely room and friendly hosts,
Stayed here for one night, we stayed in one of the rooms overlooking the estuary, beautiful outlook, very clean rooms, lovely hotel, Trevor the boss, was very helpful and friendly.
Food was good, waitresses were busy when we came, but they were still attentive and helpful,
Bit out of the way for main part of St Ives, so you will need a taxi or use the park and ride, which isn't that far.
