Says it all.

Terrible place , rude staff dated decor , dirty toilets and as for the food, well frozen ready meals not reheated properly , the customers are loud swearing louts ,its disgusting do not go here , do not believe the good reviews I can only think the landlady or her friends have been posting to try and get some positive reviews as they bear no resemblance to the reality of the place.

This was the first time i have been to this place and i must say it will not be the last. i went with family including two young children (3 and 1) the staff were were friendly and welcoming making time for customers questions and resonding happily.

With a group of 5 adult and 2 children it was refreshing to see all food came out together and piping hot the food had a great taste and amazing value for money.

could not ask for a better experience!

It's been a few years since we were in The Highwayman, but how surprised we were when we dropped in for lunch this week. The interior has had a full reorganisation, with the restaurant being moved to the rear and the pool table moved to where the restaurant once was. A very friendly, warm welcome with the log burner blazing away to make us forget the awful weather outside. Nice to see a well thougth out and balanced menu, as well as a daily specials board which gave us our only problem - what to eat?! The meals arrived poste haste, was extremely well presented and cooked perfectly. Even my wife had a dessert! It is soooo refreshing to see Publicans making such a Hurculean effort during this awful downturn in the economy. We WILL be back!

Interesting to read the other reviews for this place from locals as I can only assume we visited them on the wrong day or they treat the 'tourists' differently. I lived in cornwall for 6 years and reckon we were on the end of a bit of 'emmit' bashing.

Now, this was a while ago when we tried this place so maybe its improved, but on entering the place it was like a scene from an old western movie when the bar goes quite when you enter a saloon.

I got the impression from the staff that we were a distraction/nusiance to there working day and had interuppted their social life.

The sign above the door didn't boad well, saying food can take a while to prepare so if you can't wait then we don't want your custom.

They were right, it took an age, while we waited you were made very uncomfortable by the locals drinking at the bar (swearing mainly) then given snearing looks. Try explaining this to my young children.

Food eventually turned up, we ate it quickly just to get out, normal frozen food thats cooked, which explains the long cook times (if it was fresh would be quicker)

Thankfully with the new bypass we don't drive pass it anymore as it became a running family joke about the place.
