“Our Second time was even better !!!”
Reviewed 28 April 2013

We stayed in Field View Cottage with our daughters (now aged 10 and 7), and our dog Lanson in August 2012 and had a fantastic week. We loved it so much that when we got home we told our very good friends about it all and agreed to book at week back at Hendrifton Farm using both Granary and Field View Cottages. Our friends have 2 children (a daughter aged 10 and son aged 3).
We hadnt told the kids about going back there let alone staying with our great friends and when we arrived and they realised firstly where they were and who they were on holiday with they were estatic !!!
Mel, Gareth and Max greeted us on arrival and once again immediately made us all feel at home and once again we found mel's marvellous scones, clotted cream and jam awaiting us (this in itself is an amazing part of the week not to be missed !!). Our friends loved Granary Cottage as soon as they went in and Field View Cottage had had a couple of costmetic updates (new carpet upstairs, a couple of new units and a touch up of paint) which had once again made it look perfect an idyllic. The children loved the freedom of the farm and the use of field that they went in whenever they had the chance, whilst we loved its peace and quiet. Between all 8 of us, we ate together all the time and there was plenty of space with the extendable table in granrary cottage (thanks for leaving Steve the note Mel and Gareth about that !! lol) and there was everything that you need in both kitchens to cook great food. The beds were comfortable as ever and despite it being a chilly week outdoors the cottages were always lovely and warm and you were not short of hot water !!

Location wise Hendrifton Farm is excellent for both Cornish coastlines, and you are never far from a great pub serving great food (The cheesewring arms was amazing and very family and dog friendly). We also love Golitha Falls which is just 2 mins drive from the farm and is great for its scenic views and lovely walks.

All in all we were amazed that our fantastic week last august was beaten by an even better week this April and I would recommend Hendrifton Farm and Mel and Gareth as hosts to anyone, the place is just perfect !!

When we left and having said our goodbyes to Mel and Gareth, the kids were all in tears and couldnt stop going on about how this had been the best holiday that they had ever had (and between them they have done quite a few including cruises, lapland and disney !!). We cant disappoint the kids (or ourselves !!) so we have already and agreed with our friends to book another week at Hendrifton Farm in 2014 and it cant come round soon enough !!!

  • Liked — Everything Hendrifton Farm has to offer
  • Disliked — Given the chance I would love to live there and we hated coming home !!!

We've just returned from 4 days staying at hendrifton and we wish we had booked to stay for longer! Mel and Gareth provide a real personal touch and are there for any questions / advice for day trips whatever the Cornish weather and whatever your family needs might be! We will definitely be returning soon! The location is perfect whether you want to stay local or travel further a field in Cornwall.

We stayed for a week with friends in June each having our own cottage. It was a perfect holiday. On arrival Gareth welcomed us and showed us around the charming cottages and advised us of places to visit. We had a fantastic week and Gareth and Mel were perfect hosts and Max their dog was adorable. It was a perfect location to visit various towns and villages in Cornwall and not far from the coast. We would definitely recommend it and have already booked to go back this year. (it is also a perfect place for dogs to stay)

We stayed a Granary Cottage for five nights. Upon arrival we were met by the owner Gareth he showed us around the lovely cottage. Gareth provided us with an information pack containing suggestions on things to do and places to visit. We used the pack everyday, a great idea. Melanie baked us some lovely scones which we really enjoyed. The whole of our stay we were made very welcome. Gareth and Melanie and their dog Max are very nice people. We hope to visit Hendrifiton Farm again in 2013 and stay at Granary Cottage.

If you are planning a holiday in the UK and are looking for well equipped, beautifully decorated, charming cottage in a fantastic location, then book a holiday at Hendrifton Farm!! I promise, you certainly won’t be disappointed. From the moment we arrived at Field View cottage, we felt instantly welcome, and the Cornish Afternoon Tea waiting for us on arrival was the best in the whole of Cornwall!

Field View cottage is packed full of charm and very much a beautiful country cottage. The beds were very comfortable and we slept really well throughout our holiday. The kitchen had literally everything you could wish for, which was really helpful for cooking at the cottage. The view from the cottage is awesome and having a private garden for our little Miniature Schnauzer (Chloe) to run around in was just perfect. Chloe enjoyed her holiday immensely and was quite taken by Max, the owner’s (Gareth & Melanie) dog. Hendrifton Farm is completely dog friendly and it makes such a difference going somewhere where dogs are not only welcolmed but very much enjoyed. Gareth & Melanie made a real fuss of Chloe!

Hendrifton Farm is in a great location and we managed to visit a whole host of places during our stay for example, Port Isaac (where Doc Martin was filmed), Padstow, Lost Gardens of Helligan, Eden Project, Fowey, Looe, Seaton Beach (great for dogs), St Michael’s Mount & Bodmin Moor. However, our favourite place was Fowey, well worth a visit and right next to Sam’s at the Beach in Polkerris, which is probably one of the nicest restaurants I have ever been to (we went there 3 times in 1 week!).

Our holiday was made extra special by Gareth & Melanie who couldn’t do enough for us and were there to help with all of our needs. The information they provided from dog friendly restaurants to beaches to walk Chloe really made our holiday. We will definitely be returning soon and can’t wait to organise our next visit.

My advice to anyone reading this review is to stop looking as you have just found your perfect holiday at Hendrifton Farm... Enjoy!

What a fabulous location with superb views. We arrived for a weeks holiday to a very warm welcome and Mel's scones and cornish cream are to die for. The cottage was superbly fitted out and very quaintly decorated and furnished. Our little dog Bella fell in love with the very handsome Max. The farm is completely dog friendly and very safe for dogs. There were lots of places to visit nearby and because it was the beginning of October we were able to take Bella everywhere with us including the wonderful beaches of Cornwall. We will certainly be visiting again and will not hesitate to tell our friends too.
