“Lovely weekend break”
Reviewed 8 January 2014

Beautiful house and gardens in a great location for accessing different parts of cornwall, very friendly and accomodating owners, Julie and Pat who do everything to make your stay perfect.
Very clean and quiet and you wouldn't know you were on the outskirts of Liskeard, with lovely rural views.
Beautifully decorated for christmas and superb breakfasts, will definately return

When my husband showed me the online pictures of this lovely hotel, I thought he was joking that we were staying there, it looked so classy and expensive. The reality lived up to all expectations and my only disappointment is that we were only staying for one night. We were warmly welcomed and shown up to our chosen room which was on the second floor, well worth the climb, the view from the bedroom the following morning was beautiful. The bed was huge and really comfortable, the room was warm and lovely and the bathroom with it's slipper bath in the centre of the room made it feel really special. The choice for breakfast was excellent, a gorgeous assortment of fresh fruit as well as cereals and local jams, followed by a variety of hot items if required. And all for an extremely reasonable price. The current owners have only been in situ for a few months but were fantastic hosts, I can't recommend this guest house highly enough.

Room Tip: I think we were in room 9, the website says it has a minimum 2 night stay requirement, not sure if t...

Hello
Thankyou so much for your kind and generous review. Since taking over at the end of last August we really have met some wonderful guests who we regard as friends. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and that you liked Room 9 as much as us. And thankyou for sharing your experience at Carnglaze Caverns with us...we will be recommending it to future guests and visiting ourselves.
Hopefully we will see you down here in Cornwall in the very near future, perhaps for a longer stay next time.
Kind Regards

Lovely house in a good location for easy access to all parts of Cornwall. The hotel is difficult to fault, very comfortable, clean, quiet, excellent breakfasts with welcoming hosts and staff. We would certainly use it again next time we visit Cornwall.

Room Tip: First floor rooms are larger but don't all have good views.

After Liskeard - a rundown place if ever there was one - Pencubitt is such a great find. Only stayed one night but it's a lovely country house with fabulous gardens and newish owners obviously keen to make a great impression. Superb breakfast, superb room. Spot on! If you want to be within 15 minutes of the coast and avoid the hordes then this is for you. Also it's only a few minutes walk to the train station. We were upgraded to a king room rather than a double but we are pretty sure a double would be just as good. An historic country house with a hint of grandeur but a bowlful of good service and breakfast!

Spent a night here early October on business, it was wet and dark and stormy, but I could see the potential of this place for a lovely quiet weekend away. Old school decor and none the worse for it, lovely owner/manger great breakfast. I am assuming it will get better still as its early days for the new owners. Top tip on local eating is don't turn up in Liskeard and expect to stumble upon a gem, do some research and get a taxi. Ask the owner.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the open fields have a great view

It's ideally located, oh so comfortable, and a happy place to be.

Patrick and Julie are warm, welcoming, and generous hosts, and couldn't do more to make our visit memorable.

Food: excellent.

Staff: friendly, cheerful and helpful.

Can't wait to come back.
