“For the little family too”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

Deerpark looked like the perfect location for a weeks summer holiday for just myself and my 9 year old daughter. I wanted activities for her and relaxation for me, which seemed a lot to ask from a single holiday. It turned out to be the perfect balance for both of us.

A great range of activities, organised and run by wonderful staff, meant that my daughter was kept busy and made a lovely group of friends. The Retreat and the hot tub provided me with plenty of opportunities to relax knowing that she was having an ideal child's ,wild in the woods, experience. The location gave us great access to beaches for body boarding and crabbing as well as The Eden project.

We loved our Silver Birch cabin which was everything we needed, with a little bit more. We loved the location and the facilities. We loved the staff who seemed to add a little extra to everything they did for us, which, for our little family of two, made for the perfect mix of family fun and grown up R+R.

We booked a Sliver Birch cabin for my wife and I, a 12, 9 and 2 year old! On arrival, we received a friendly welcome at the Forest Retreat, and the cabin (no 27) was spotlessly clean. It was very spacious and high windows ensure everything is bright and airy! Walking out on to the terrace the views are lovely and we were struck by how quiet it was. There is no phone signal or Wi-Fi so it's really like going back in time, which when you get used to it, is lovely....!! We payed extra for the hot tub, which was nice but was it worth the extra....I'm not sure! Our friends stayed a few cabins up from us without a hot tub and their cabin was EXACTLY the same as ours. We used it 3 times so if you break that down it is quite a lot of money, but if you can afford it, it is nice to sit and relax in lovely warm bubbling water, surrounded by peace and quiet! We ordered a Pizza on the first night that is delivered to the cabin door, which was very nice, and also an Indian on the last night which was perfectly acceptable! The walks are lovely, and the kids enjoyed the Duck Race and also the Night Vision walk, where you are kitted out with night vision equipment and a piece of equipment that listens out for bats! We searched for owls and managed to track one down! Martin the Forest Ranger is very enthusiastic and passionate about what he does! The kids were shattered by the end so be aware of a very late finish, usually after midnight! Close by are some lovely picturesque coastal towns like Looe and the beautiful Polperro..! Slightly further afield are some of the bigger beach resorts if that's your thing...we travelled to Mawgan Porth where the kids enjoyed bodyboarding in surprisingly warm waters! We also went to Adrenalin Quarry and had great fun on the huge zip wire..!

All in all, Deerpark was a lovely relaxing place to stay and I'd thoroughly recommend it....just decide if you really want the hot tub..!!

We have just got back from a 3 night break at deerpark and feel very relaxed and chilled. We live in cornwall and have a dog so was looking for somewhere to stay that was close to home but would provide a good level of luxury, deerpark met the grade. We stayed in cabin 18 which was on the water and very secluded ideal for spending time in the outdoor hot tub as we were not over looked. The rooms were clean and the service was good. The hot tub was checked daily and we even had hot food delivered to our cabin door. I would recommend deerpark to anyone who likes peace and quiet and little luxuries. We would love to go back again and so would our dog.

A great 4 night holiday in the golden oak cabin with a hot tub on the decking which was perfect to wake up in the mornings and relax in the evenings. Very good quality cabin with stylish decoration with a warm homely atmosphere. Bedrooms were comfy and more than enough space for everyone. Fully equipped kitchen which was easy to use. The bathrooms were very very nice although the hot water didn't last too long. The Site was close to Polperro and Looe which had lovely scenery to walk around in and go to the beach. Overall I would recommend this Park as the accommodation was excellent with great places to visit nearby. :)

We've just got back from a long weekend in Cabin 10. There were six adults sharing the cabin which worked perfectly. The bedrooms were a good size (a little warm due to the very hot weather) and enough bthroom space. The indoor and outdoor realxing and dining space worked very well and the hot tub was very well used. There was no noise from the other cabins with only the odd noisy duck/goose to break the silence during the night. The kitchen was well stocked (EXCEPT no coffee pot which was at the other site we've used, please add we missed our coffee) and the fridge/freezer was great. The staff were fab and the retreat is perfect for items you've forgotten. There is no phone reception nor WiFi in the Cabins. It is available (on and off) at the retreat if you need a digital moment, this does allow complete escape. Good walks and plenty to see in the surrounding countryside, the perfect break. Jake you were much appreciated by all.

Room Tip: Cabin 10 was great as no bunk beds and FAB view of the lake, not overlooked

Deerpark was just fantastic in everyway nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were just brilliant with anything you asked them. We stayed in cabin 11 and it was very nice indeed. We had 6adults and a 6 week old baby in the cabin which I thought would be abit of a squeeze but it wasnt too bad at all. Shower was fine as long as we didnt take ages in it we never ran out of hot water.
The cabin was lovely the bedrooms were great could of mayb done with abit more storage that you can shut things away in like a wardobe or draws rather than just shelves. The living room and kitchen were great and stocked up with eveything you need too. The decking area with the hot tub was great too and very secluded as right on the water front with all the ducks and geese. Hot tub was only big enough for 4 adults comfortably but was fine for us.
We had a tesco delivery when we arrived which was good and delivered to the door step. There was somesteps down to the lodge so if you have trouble walking then probably not the best lodge for you.
we had an indian from the retreat and pizza to which were both good and delivered nice and hot. We ate in the retreat too one evening which was also very good.
We ate out at the plough in duloe one evening which I would highly recommend the pub is great and food is brilliant too.

There is no phone signal when you are on the deerpark site which was fine for us is always nice just to be able to hear nature and not be distracted by your phone. You got signal when you go out for the day.

All in all we had a wonderful stay at deerpark and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a nice relaxed lodge in the woods to get away from it all.

We have just returned last week from a 7 night brake we went as two couples each having a dog
we stopped in a copper beech cabin (number 24) we were right near the end of the road that lead into the woods so we could just open the door and we were in the woods with the dogs.
Weather was ok but wet some days but we could still enjoy the site with the walks and of course the fabulous hot tub (very hot tub).

The park is sited just a short drive from the coast so it was grate to get about if you want a good Beach and one that is dog friendly try Par sands about 20 mins drive but well worth it all the other beeches close by are rocky

The Retreat on site is ok for a quick drink But quite expensive to by food and other things ( eg :one dish washer tablet 25p we also had 4 pizzas and that was over £50) so do a shop before you go there are large supermarkets in Liskeard about 30 mins away.

The cabin was very well equipped and very clean the site is very quiet and you can hear all the animals around you. When i was out with my dog about 7:00 i spotted deer on the track way along with many other animals just outside our door.

No phones or internet unless you are at the retreat just adds to its charms a grate getaway from the rushing around of every day life. We will be going back soon.

Room Tip: cabin 24 silver birch second from the end so no passing traffic and you are in the woods.
