“A fantastic place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2014

My family and I booked a room at Molesworth Manor during the August Bank Holiday as we wanted to be close to Padstow. We could not have chosen a more beautiful and family-friendly hotel.

Even before we arrived we were made to feel welcome by the hotelier who processed our booking. Upon arrival we were greeted, shown around the Manor and offered a cup of coffee.

The period drawing room and spacious lounge area are flooded with natural light and the perfect places to relax. WiFi is also available from these two rooms.

The property is impeccably clean throughout and somebody is always on hand if needed.

The breakfast is simply outstanding, using fresh locally-sourced produce and served with a smile.

We were made to feel at home and would have no hesitation in staying again.

Room Tip: From what we saw, all nine rooms are beautiful.

A lovely old fashioned place to stay that is right up to date in looking after you. Calm room , relaxed and welcoming , we booked late but wouldn't hesitate booking again, wonderful. Lovely breakfast , amazing marmalade ;-) and we can't speak highly enough of this superb b and b. Stuart and Andrea .

Room Tip: Up grade to get a shower too.

Glad you liked the marmalade! I make 16 large kilner jars every February which is a lot of work
but it seems very popular with our guests.

Located in a beautiful old manor house, the B & B is ideal for visiting Padstow if you don't mind a short drive into town. When we arrived we were served tea on the lawn and all everyone we encountered was very pleasant. All in all a very pleasant stay.

If you have a large car the driveway is a bit of a challenge and If it is busy you need to park half on the grass. When you get there, the star of the show is the house itself. Inside is a wonderful double lounge with honesty bar, TV and CD player, all for guest use. The WiFi is good and newspapers are available. Take a look at the huge interesting old window between the landing and the breakfast bar.

Our room was a bit weird in that the bathroom was through double doors and was huge but the bedroom itself was not much bigger. Obviously a remnant of the original conversion so can't be helped but maybe the layout could be adjusted to add more flat surfaces in the bedroom; we just seemed to run out of places to put things. There was room for kettle and tea/coffee in the room and a nice touch was the availability of fresh milk for your in-room teas.

Where the bed is situated there was little space either side at the head end so no room for bedside furniture save a tiny shelf on one side.
I have to report not a great night's sleep and this was the least comfortable night of our holiday; I think the bed or mattress has lost its spring in the middle or something.

Others have reported some issues at breakfast and it seemed like that the staff had been overwhelmed although this can't be unusual in August. There is a buffet of cereals and fruit but could I suggest that if there is some stress with the hot food, the priority should to make sure everyone at least has tea or coffee asap so that they feel loved. Or maybe start serving at 8:00 to accommodate earlier risers. When brekkie arrived it was a really tasty.

So where does that leave us? I have to say that the Manor is a perfectly nice place to stay but would I go there again? Thinking about the full hotel prices and the quality of sleep, not sure.

Thank you for taking the time to review us.As you suggest in the review we are a little restricted by the layout of the house and our status as a Grade 2 listed building.Because of this all of our rooms are different which makes them interesting and unusual.I note your comments about places to leave things and will review it to see if we can improve that aspect.
I am glad you liked our breakfast, one of the things that makes it good is that we cook everything to
order which can lead to delays if everyone converges at once. You should have received tea or coffee immediately after sitting in the breakfast room and I apologise that this did not happen.I have shown your review to our waiting staff to re-emphasise how important it is to get the guests settled and supplied with drinks.
If you try us another time we will give you a reduced rate and the opportunity to view our other rooms.Apologies we slipped from our normal high standards.

This is a B&B in a beautiful, characterful old rectory. Rooms are very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The welcome was warm and breakfast serving staff very friendly. The quality of the breakfast is excellent. Well located for Padstow and surrounding coastline and country. Highly recommended!!

We (4 ladies) stayed here this weekend. I was in 'his lordship's room' with my friend and two other friends were in the 'maid's room'. We stayed here because our friend got married nearby. The B&B was absolutely fabulous. Our room was extremely comfortable and very well appointed with a lovely bathroom and a French press for in the morning (fresh milk was available with thermos cans in the breakfast room for the morning).
I cannot fault the place, in all honesty. The people were very welcoming and made us feel at home. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was amazing. The homemade blueberry muffins were fabulous and if they have the spiced pears, try them as they were delicious! I have taken a brochure and will definitely be going back with my husband. I cannot recommend this place enough. A massive thanks for a very relaxing stay.
