Description: A busy bistro set in the heart of the idyllic town of Lostwithiel, Cornwall. Calogero's was formally known as Terra Nova. We felt that the surname of the Sicilian head chef, who took over the business in 2011, was better suited to the type of food we now serve. Calogero's is pronounced with a soft 'g'. Our menu ranges from authentic home cooked Italian meals to traditional English dishes, using fresh and locally sourced ingredients. We have a large selection of vegetarian dishes and a separate minimal gluten menu (no gluten containing ingredients). Freshly ground Italian sourced coffee and treats are served throughout the day.

Visited tonight. The food was upto a high standard and everyone that came to the table was very friendly, cheerful and helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble. In particular there was one young lad around 20ish who was one of the friendliest waiters I have ever encountered. This might sound silly but his attitude completed a great meal. The portions were also very large. Definitely recommend! Only note is that parking can be a bit scarce so arrive early!

Just had a lovely meal for 2, have to say the waiter was great he Was so chatty and down to earth the best waiter we have had in a long time! The portions were huge and food was fresh and tasty! Definitely recommend going only thing is the window ledges need a good clean lots of dirt and some dead flies but if that gets done then a perfect restaurant! :)

We chose this restaurant by accident as The Royal Oak up the road stopped serving carvery earlier than advertised. Having made the trip to Lostwithiel we drove into the town and spotted the Terra Nova board. Lucky us. Delicious veggies, lots of them. Lots of beef, a bit overcooked but still very tender. Too full for pudding.
Will definately go back as we thought this was great value at £8.95 each. Nice atmosphere, and nice space around table.
Thanks ... and see you soon

We went to this restaurant on our second nite after reading the reviews..we had tried to book but no response to our voice mail so went anyway..and we weren't disappointed! We waited 30 mins but the meals we had were of excellent quality and service was good..pesto steaks wow!! As they are open only limited times during the day..strongly advise to book. I must say that whilst we were waiting they turned away 9 adult covers at 8pm due to the restaurant early close..shame as they had 4 empty tables inside throughout the evening. Strongly recommended to go here.

Thank you for your review, we're glad you enjoyed your meal and we would also recommend that customers book in advance. At this time of year, apart from a couple of hours in the afternoon, there's usually someone around to answer the phone between 10am and 10pm. We do phone back anyone that leaves an answerphone message, but sometimes we are unable to identify the phone number or there is no reply on the customer's end.

As much as we would love to be able to fill the entire restaurant over the course of half an hour or an hour, this could potentially mean sending out up to a hundred dishes in a short time frame. We are simply unable to do this, as we cook our food from scratch in a small kitchen and so we need to spread our table reservations out over the course of the evening. If we are fully booked at any given time, we do offer people a table (if we have one free) to have drinks at until we are able to take their food order, so thank you for your patience in waiting.
