While travelling through South West England, Terra Nova was recommended to us by our B&B host in Lostwithiel. He reassured us, that although the cuisine was named a curious Mediterranean/Asian fusion, we would surely love the food as much as he did. We don't know too much about fusion food and the menu almost had us planning an inconspicuous exit! Thank goodness we stayed!
The ambiance was quirky, informal and delightful. My starter was a grilled quail - beautifully done and absolutely delicious. The main we both chose was a steak with sweet onions - absolutely perfect. The portions were modest but certainly enough and it finally allowed me to make room for dessert. The warm chocolate brownie was heaven.
In The Netherlands, where we come from, this dinner would have cost at least twice as much, if not more. Excluding wine we didn't pay more than 45 pounds for the two of us.
What I loved about the food was that it was understated but so very well prepared and full of flavor. Terra Nova is unique in style - from the quality of the food to the people working there.
Back home in The Netherlands, I can only remember the best dinner I have had in years!
