“Perfect in Every Way”
Reviewed 29 November 2013

We decided on 3 nights to visit South Cornwall in the middle of a dreary and depressing November and after a day in Trago Mills I was just losing the will to live--and the prospect of unpacking and exchanging the usual pleasantries filled me with dread.Well--how wrong can you be--Val and Alex were the perfect hosts and greeted us like friends not customers and made us feel at home immediately--how about "What time would you like breakfast?"--and home made ginger biscuits in your room along with a plethora of different teas--yes--you have it--the little things that made it so superior..The breakfast is to die for with a healthy alternative--ask for their own honey....There is a lovely residents lounge ,well stocked with tourist info and books for everyone and you have a key which gives you complete freedom to come and go as you please--I can imagine this in summer sitting in the large garden in the summer house watching the son go down slowly with an accompanying drink or two.--and at the end of the day we slept in one of the most comfortable beds I have ever been in...

Room Tip: I peeped in to the twin room which was just as neat as the "double" but if you are a coupl...

Welcomed with cream tea by friendly hosts Val and Alex. Whole place immaculate, warm, clean and comfortable. You can have as little as toast or as much as a large plateful of cooked usual English breakfast choices. This is apart from toast with its varied accompaniments. Possession of a front door key means you can come and go as you please. Tea and coffee making facilities with homemade Cornish farrings - delicious! This is the place to go for being spoilt and comfortable.

Room Tip: Only 2 available.

the only drawback I found was that it was located right on a busy A road - so be careful when you set off for a day trip. If they're not busy, one of the owners will see you out. The breakfasts are very good and varied. Nothing negative to note.

I enjoyed my original stay with Val and Alex so much that I went back again when I visited Cornwall. This is always a risk in case you are disappointed and the memories are spoiled. However, if anything, this time was even better. I felt so welcome as I was greeted with a cream tea and relaxed in their lovely garden after a very long journey. My room was clean and fresh and the bed was very comfortable. As I tucked into my breakfast, being well looked after, all cares fell from my shoulders.

Warm welcome and Cornish Tea, room clean and beautiful quilt and matching curtains. Bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in and the quilt (as it was the coldest the south coast has had this year) was amazing.
Breakfast was freshly cooked with local produce including their own chickens eggs and homemade marmalade.

Room Tip: N/A as both rooms are at the front, we slept in the double and even on the main road we slept very w...

Cross Close House has to be one of the nicest B&Bs I've ever experienced. We were welcomed with a delicious cream tea, and things got better from there on in. The room was comfortable and well appointed, the sitting room available to the guests was lovely and had a great range of info about local attractions, as well as a good selection of books and DVDs to borrow. The breakfast (sourced for the most part from local producers - especially the eggs from their own hens) was absolutely legendary. The owners, Val and Alex were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Sadly the weather was rubbish while we were there (not that we can hold them responsible for that!), so we never got to see and therefore cannot comment on the garden. A great base to explore Cornwall from. We look forward to our next visit,
