This was our third stay at Wayton Barn, and we enjoyed our week. The cottage has everything needed for two, although my wife found the bed a bit uncomfortable. It's well situated for visiting places in both south Cornwall, such as Fowey, and the north, such as Padstow and Boscadtle. The garden is pleasant to sit in, although the weather was not kind to us and we were only able to enjoy it on one evening. The cost of Wayton Barn is considerably less than other Cornish cottages that we considered.
We had trouble finding the cottage as our Sat Nav directed us to a field the other side of Lostwithiel. However on arrival the cottage was spotlessly clean and Alison a welcoming host. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this property.
The location is ideal for touring,( actually off the A390 between Lostwithiel and Liskeard, the turn off for Braddock Church at West Taphouse)
Wayton Barn was in a really good spot for exploring the rest of Cornwall. Basic but clean, but for the price it was absolutely amazing. Alison showed us around when we first arrived and we were left to our own devises (which we liked). Lostwithiel isn't too far down the road with a Co-op to get bits from. The log burner was fantastic and well used during our weeks stay. Due to the price we would definitely consider staying here again!
Our second year staying at wayton barn....everything we need for our 2 week stay. Lovely & clean as always, very much a home from home. Once again no complaints, we love staying here.. And already looking forward to staying again in 2018!!
Had a fantastic week at Wayton Barn with my teenage daughter. It was perfect, great location, immaculate gardens, just lovely. Can't think of a single negative. Would not hesitate to go back. We took our bicycles and cycled on the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow,Wadebridge being within easy driving distance. We went to Fistral, Newquay add Crantock. Also visited Looe, Polperro and Fowey which are all within a 15/20 minute drive. Being in mid Cornwall it was very well situated for both north and south coasts. Thank you Ann for a lovely holiday.
The bungalow is clean, neat and comfortable. A welcome sight after being out for the day. It is in an idyllic location for peace, quiet and local wildlife. The first morning there, I was woken by the local pheasant tapping on my bedroom window. Local amenities are 5 minutes drive away (small shop and fuel), Lostwithiel, Bodmin and St Austell are further away (max 30 minutes), but its a lovely trip. Just above St Neots (10 minutes) there is the other-worldly landscape of the moor, with the golden gorse. You can take your pick which direction to go for the coast, though I recommend Charlestown for a sunny Sunday morning, and Trevone for breath taking coastal walks. I covered most of Cornwall from this lovely base. Ideal
Just spent 2 wonderful weeks here.Alison met us on arrival asked if we needed anything to make a drink with after a long journey. We were shown around the cottage (and garden which was totally private and for our sole use) inside was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we could need. The cottage is tucked away down a lane off the main road in lovely surroundings. Its a great base for touring Cornwall, looe (25 mins), polperro, not far away to name a few. We always stay in self catering cottages and this is probably the nicest and great value for money, so much so we are returning next year!!!
