“Homely Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2014

I stayed here as I had an interview in Cornwall. After driving miles and feeling very tired I was treated by David who helped me carry a bag. Checking in was quick and easy. They also had a print out ready detailing places to eat within the town which I thought was a lovely idea.
My room was a really good size, clean and well stocked. I liked all of the little touches including bottled water which for someone like me who doesn't drink tea or coffee was greatly received.
I felt very safe in the bed and breakfast and had a really good nights sleep. Breakfast was very tasty all local produce. It was a brief but lovely stay with excellent hosts and I will definatly be back when I'm next in the county.

Room Tip: Best the drive slowly as the turning for the road came up very quickly.

We stayed here for 1 night, and loved it. Room was spacious, clean and very well stocked.
Breakfast was fantastic- plentiful and very well cooked.
Hosts were very hospitable and friendly.
Would definately stay here again if we are down in those parts

My husband and I just spent 2 nights at Penrose. We booked because of the excellent Trip Advisor rating and can honestly say if there was an AAA+ Heidi and Chris deserve that.
Apart from a very comfortable room , unbelievably delicious breakfast there are so many little thoughtful touches that are rarely found in 5* hotels let alone a B&B. From the huge luxurious towels and high quality toiletries to the exquisite crockery at breakfast - such a pleasure to drink tea from a fine china cup rather than a chunky mug !
Our stay in Lostwithiel will definitely be a highlight of our holiday in the UK.

We stayed here for four nights, and we cannot fault the place! Heidi and Chris gave us such a warm welcome and were very thoughtful throughout the stay, and the room was so comfortable - nothing had been missed. Every morning we had a wonderful breakfast - and the fact that we chose our time and menu for breakfast the night before made perfect sense, no hardship at all - it was was superb, especially the black pudding and the mushrooms! Amazing value for a great stay and thanks to Heidi and Chris for sharing their home with us. We will be recommending it to all you want to listen!

One night stay during the worst storms in living memory but felt safe and comfy in this Victorian house on the hill. Amazing original coloured floor tiles in hall, and colourful cushions, carpet, curtains bedspread etc in bedroom, all clashing with each other, colourful but not restful on the eye!
Very friendly hosts, with local maps & info provided. Big comfy bed, big fluffy towels, generous toiletries and hospitality tray, old fashioned wing back chairs looking out of first floor window over town, good breakfast cereal, nuts & tea selection.
Did not like curt note in bathroom telling you to turn the light off as connected fan keeps guests of other rooms awake; should either put dampner on fan or provide second light not connected to fan. Awkward placement of corner shower over bath meant a quick shower which was a shame as generous toiletries in large bathroom provided.
Also did not like having to book breakfast time slot the night before and deciding what wanted to have for breakfast, B&B was not fully booked so don't see reason for that.
Very limited parking in tight spot on very steep hill, if concerned then book parking space when book room if possible.

Room Tip: Rooms at front obviously have views over town, not very scenic but hills in the distance.

We spent one night here recently and really enjoyed it. Chris and Heidi have thought of everything you could possible need! The list is almost endless, bathrobes, sweets, hot chocolate, bubble bath, biscuits, extra heaters, books, magazines, DVDs etc. We received a warm and sunny welcome on a very wet and cold day. We will stay there again when we next visit that area

The cost of the room was very reasonable and the breakfast was good.

We are a young couple and spent last summer with Chris and Heidi during our 'attempt' at surfing! The style of the hotel is very quaint and Awesome.

Will be going back, hopefully this summer.

Location was also very good as it is a good central point to go explore Cornwall.
