Had a lunch time meal with six members of my family. Service was brilliant and the staff very friendly. The meal was excellent served in good time and there was no rush to clear out afterwards. Had a look around the rooms and they appeared to be very good and good value for money. An ideal location in the centre of a beautiful part of Cornwall

We were guests at a wedding held at the Royal Oak and can't say anything less than "Absolutely Super" - even the food. The staff worked hard to make sure everything went well and that it looked nice - I even saw the lady who does the cleaning and she was working hard making sure all was good.

The bar area was roomy with friendly staff and clientele. We had supper one evening and it was delicious - I also had a look at the kitchen and saw that it was really clean.

The staff worked hard to make sure everyone had drinks as soon as they arrived and served the food promptly - which was delicious and obviously home cooked - not something from the deep freeze - the pudding was particularly good. Afterwards they cleared away with the minimum of fuss and got the entertainment going in good time. The Royal Oak is a place that we'd be happy to stay at anytime.

We had our reception at The Royal Oak and would recommend other people looking for an informal venue to choose it. The staff there are very friendly and we met with them several times to discuss our requirements and they delivered on the day, delicious food and excellent service. The accommodation was spacious and reasonably priced, fantastic views over the historic town. We have eaten there several times before, and after and have always had tasty meals in a relaxing environment. There is a car park and a beer garden which has the afternoon sunshine.

Room Tip: Room 2 has lovely views looking over the town towards the beautiful church spire of St Bartholomew...

Thank you for a fabulous stay at your beautiful hotel. We really enjoyed both the lovely room and great meals, both dinner and the complimentary breakfast. Rooms are beautifully renovated and well appointed. Staff were very friendly and helpful.Great value for money too.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely though some are much bigger ( and more expensive) depends how long you will be...

I hate three times there, twice for lunch and one for afternoon dessert. It was the best place I had food in ten days in Cornwall during the half term holiday. Reel quality food with fresh vegetables, the lamb was delicious and what can I say about desserts except: yum, yum, yum. And the ladies there were so nice, smiling and careful. I am french and I must say simply: délicieux, très bonne adresse. I recommend this place.

Firstly can i say thank you to The Royal Oak for a very pleasant evening ,your staff were extremely pleasant and efficient.
The menu choice was small but select which meant making the choice a little easier ,well prepared and presented so i cant fault that or the ambience of the restaraunt.

However just a pointer to encourage me to make a return visit, i was a little disappointed by the choice of language that eminated from the public bar into where i was sitting ,puncuating the silence it wasnt what i and my wife wanted to hear.

So if you dont want to hear the local lads greeting each other in the only way they seem to know best avoid the public bar, stick it out in the lounge and hope it doesnt reach you .

Lovely accomadation in a pub. Tasteful decor in rooms with quality furnishings. Very attentive staff. I ordered the mussels in a bacon and cider sauce in the restaurant. Wow!. The most fresh and tasty mussels I have ever tasted. Very central to visit most of Cornwall. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Room 2 really lovely and plenty of space. No bath only a shower
