Visited for Mother's Day and received excellent service. Mothers were treated to a free glass of wine which was a nice added touch. Carvery offered 3 selection of meats and choice of vegetables which were all nicely cooked and hot. Even though a busy day were not rushed through meal giving us time between courses. A big thank you to the staff as we have visited before with our dog (though not on this occasion as busy), and were given some of the off cuts of meat to take home as a treat for our dog.

Stayed over for Monday night in early March which was really pleasant. The atmosphere was friendly and the balance between pub and restaurant and inn was perfect. Thought has been put in but into the decor but it's not overdone and still has a casual feel. Beds were really comfy and we were really happy with it. The was a good selection of hot breakfast choices as well as cereals etc laid out. All the staff were really friendly and natural.

My husband and I booked to stay here on the 16th of February for what we thought was going to be a romantic night unfortunately we were disappointed with the standard of food being below average the cheesecake that I had ordered was in edible the only way I can describe this is like eating soap.

The room did not live up to my expectations upon arrival we were met with a dated and unclean room.

Valentines disco - this took place in a small bar room. There was no room to dance and my husband and I felt it was a locals excuse for a p*** up! With them singing so loud at quarter to midnight we could hear it in are room not to mention the constant bass booming through the ceiling.

We were that disappointed with all the above we didn't stay for breakfast that we payed for hence don't think will be returning here again !

Had a lunch time meal with six members of my family. Service was brilliant and the staff very friendly. The meal was excellent served in good time and there was no rush to clear out afterwards. Had a look around the rooms and they appeared to be very good and good value for money. An ideal location in the centre of a beautiful part of Cornwall

We were guests at a wedding held at the Royal Oak and can't say anything less than "Absolutely Super" - even the food. The staff worked hard to make sure everything went well and that it looked nice - I even saw the lady who does the cleaning and she was working hard making sure all was good.

The bar area was roomy with friendly staff and clientele. We had supper one evening and it was delicious - I also had a look at the kitchen and saw that it was really clean.

The staff worked hard to make sure everyone had drinks as soon as they arrived and served the food promptly - which was delicious and obviously home cooked - not something from the deep freeze - the pudding was particularly good. Afterwards they cleared away with the minimum of fuss and got the entertainment going in good time. The Royal Oak is a place that we'd be happy to stay at anytime.

We had our reception at The Royal Oak and would recommend other people looking for an informal venue to choose it. The staff there are very friendly and we met with them several times to discuss our requirements and they delivered on the day, delicious food and excellent service. The accommodation was spacious and reasonably priced, fantastic views over the historic town. We have eaten there several times before, and after and have always had tasty meals in a relaxing environment. There is a car park and a beer garden which has the afternoon sunshine.

Room Tip: Room 2 has lovely views looking over the town towards the beautiful church spire of St Bartholomew...
