“Big room compared to other inns”

There were problems with the reservation but the personnel solved them immediately. They were really nice. The room is big enough compared to other inns. It's not a luxury lodge but for a couple of nights it's very good

We stayed here for the bank holiday weekend.
Room was clean and nicely decorated, but a little small. Perfectly good enough for our needs.
Breakfast was somewhat chaotic. Despite filling a form the night before the lady serving did not have it. Told us we should have filled one in even though we had.
Besides this the breakfast was well done (after a wait for it to be prepared).
Had a couple of meals here in the evening. Both were good quality meals.
The service from the staff was excellent. All were friendly and welcoming as were the locals.
Overall a good place to stay. It is convenient for many of Cornwall attractions and Lostwithiel is a charming town.
Well worth a visit even just for a drink or something to eat.

Haven't stayed here but tried the food for the first time a last weekend. One of the best carvery meals we've ever had. Like the atmospheric interior of the place and the service was excellent, too. Top value & highly recommended for a Sunday lunch!

Ate here on a Saturday night with party of four, largely based on Trip Advisor reviews. They were quite busy, and warned us that there would be roughly 30 minutes wait for the food, although in reality it was a little longer than this. The food was fairly standard pub grub, which was a bit pricey for what you got. The menu was not extensive, but I don't hold this against any restaurant if the quality of the food is good. However, one of our party ordered salmon, which had very clearly gone off. Not sure how the kitchen did not notice this, as it smelled off the moment it arrived which was after it had been cooked!

To be fair, the staff dealt with the matter appropriately, and an alternative dish was served up very rapidly, for which we were not charged. Maybe the kitchen would have noticed if it had been a less busy evening.

A wonderful little spot this pretty pub was friendly and welcoming. The rooms were ready early and what a treat they were. Our room was superb value at £50 for the two of us with breakfast and although it was compact it was most charming and well designed. Our fellow guests had bigger rooms at a slightly increased price and they were also wonderful both in style and attention to detail. The room was beautifully clean and good provision of towels and toiletries. The breakfast was excellent as we ate downstairs in the pub with a log fire already blazing at 9.30am; what a treat! I can not fault this pub and I will recommend it to everyone who is looking for great value in Cornwall. We went for a small walk around Lostwithiel and discovered it's hidden charms as well; not normally on the tourist trail it looks like a very well loved little town with easy accessibility to the more well known seaside towns ( Fowey and Looe).

Room Tip: If you want a bigger room pay a bit more.

This pub/restaurant has been through some really bad times, but the current owners have brought it right back up to the top. The decor is really good, the service is cheerful and welcoming, and the food is really good, honest and unpretentious, well presented and tasty. The prices are very reasonable too.
