We had decided to make the trip to Cornwall in February, despite the unreliable weather at that time of year. Unknown to us, this February was to be the worst on record, with those dreadful gales and storms. The Pound was a little haven in the madness. Once the door was closed, the curtains shut, the lights on ........we were as cosy as anything, and the cottage withstood the hurricane winds with no bother!.
The cottage itself was in excellent condition - well furnished and decorated, with everything we needed. The beds were wonderfully comfortable, and the duvets luxurious. We obviously needed heating at that time of year, and the cottage was lovely and warm. The free wi-fi was very useful and much appreciated. Everything is on one level, so perfect for anyone with mobility problems.
I can imagine how lovely The Pound would be in warmer weather, with space to sit outside. If you have children, the play area is in constant view for ease of mind. We loved the chickens! They would race over when we opened the curtains every morning, even knocking at the door for their daily Cheerios.
The owners are on site, but never intrusive; they are helpful and you get the feeling that nothing is too much trouble. I do hope we can manage a visit later in the year. There is much to do in the area - although we were there to visit family locally, we love the friendliness of the area, and there are wonderful beaches and walks nearby. Further afield, there are lots of interesting places to visit, and fun things to do with children.
One minor detail - although there is a dishwasher, there isn't an abundance of crockery - particularly mugs and bowls. A family might find themselves running short before a dishwasher load was ready. Easily rectifiable, and we didn't need the dishwasher anyway.
