“The second time round and even better!”
Reviewed 12 September 2011

Although it may not seem necessary to write a second review for this wonderful hotel, I think it deserves it! My boyfriend and I stayed back in April and couldn't wait to book our next trip. We felt maybe it would be a slightly different experience in August as it was the summer and therefore could be busier, so we were prepared for simple things like room service to maybe not be as fast! But there was no difference what so ever! Last time we stayed we didn't use the pool so this time we made sure we did and it was empty on both occasions. I wanted to have a morning swim and it was amazing to find an empty pool with such an incredible view. This hotel really strives to do everything to make you feel as relaxed as possible and I cannot praise the staff high enough for how polite they are. When my boyfriend made a trip from our room to the car - a 3 minute walk - he was greeted with a friendly hello from 3 members of staff there and back. It's small things like this that make a trip really great for us. We had a hot chocolate in the area above the bar at night and had a great chat with the lady who brought them to us. We really appreciated that she took the time to talk to us and explain more about the wonderful hotel. We can't fault this hotel at all and we really hate leaving. Room service is another thing that really stands out to us. Our breakfast arrived bang on time and was as amazing as the last time. The rooms, the pool, the view, the beach and the food is increible, but its the staff that make us certain we'll keep coming back for years to come. Thank you to all of them who made our stay really special! Keep doing what you're doing The Scarlet as we love it!

Spent another wonderful long weekend at The Scarlet Hotel. Out if this world views and very friendly staff. Quality of food in restaurant so much better than this time last year. Awards for food must be on there way. Will be back for another long weekend

My husband and I stayed two nights over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Our two teenage daughters had gone to stay with their godmother in London. As a Cornish resident I had heard many great things about the Scarlet from local people and, having experienced the wonderful Bedruthan Steps Hotel on several occasions (mainly business/work related), I was really keen to find out more about its sister hotel.
So, childfree, for a rare couple of days we made the short journey across from the South Cornish Coast to the North. Although warned beforehand via the website that parking was tight we did not have any problem finding a space - and, because of the Scarlet's amazing location, we did not use the car for the rest of the weekend.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the lovely Abbie, who sat us down in the comfy sofas of the entrance area and found someone to take care of our luggage straightaway. Not having a standard reception desk is truly inspired, as from the moment you arrive, you really do feel like you are being looked after by the most welcoming hosts in their stunningly beautiful home. Being Cornish myself, what impressed me most about the Scarlet was just how well it made the most of all the beauty that the County offers, whether it is the incredible light and scenery or all the gorgeous local food.
Abbie showed us around the whole of the hotel before taking us to our room (29) at the far end of the hotel overlooking Mawgan Porth Beach. It was called a 'Just Right' room and that totally summed it up!
The views were spectacular and we loved just looking out of the window at the surfers, the glistening sea and the sunsets.
We did all the things that other guests have commented on - fab seaweed hot tub experience out on the cliffs, superb meals in the restaurant including the breakfasts, chilling in the outdoor lounge areas snuggled up in blankets and being brought tea and cakes, swimming in the beautiful indoor pool and outdoor natural pool and walking along the Coastal path to Bedruthan Steps. It was strange being without our daughters but they had an equally amazing time in London so we didn't feel too guilty! We will definitely be back - it was the best UK hotel experience we have had.

What a lovely review, so glad you were able to relax and enjoy yourselves, even though you were not very far from home.

We do hope you will be back if not to stay perhaps for lunch or a day spa visit.

Best wishes

really enjoyed our stay here. went for a couple nights with my mother mainly to use the spa!
which was fabulous.
the hotel looks great and the care they have taken to build this hotel with as little impact on the environment is admirable.
don't hesitate, just book!

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights after a decision to move out of a caravan that we were staying in nearby (which was ghastly). The hotel is ultra-modern and very eco-friendly. The position overlooking a beautiful Cornish bay is to die for, the food is good and the comfort of the hotel is very good. The really outstanding aspect of the hotel are the staff - whoever recruits them should be given an award! With all the in-house activities available the weather becomes less of a factor in the overall enjoyment.

We stayed in a lovely 'just right' room on the first floor at the front of the hotel and in beautiful weather, I can truly say that there are few places more beautiful (and I'm just back from Mauritius). Although the room was pretty basic, the design is modern and clean. After the high of our wedding day, 2 nights at the Scarlet was just what we needed to feel pampered and relaxed and generally to enjoy eachother's company.

I booked the Scarlet as a pre-wedding gift to my husband as we were going on a 'proper' honeymoon in July. I won't pretend that the peak season price didn't make me wonder about how anywhere could be worth it, but I was looking for a hotel that was more than somewhere to stay and few places seemed like they offered that. We did have amazing weather, which helped, but the combination of the lovely room, the fresh tea and coffee brought to you for free whenever, the lovely breakfast and dinner, the beautiful scenery and the spa made for a PERFECT break.

We'll have to save up for it, but we'll go again!

My husband and I stayed at the Scarlet for our 8th wedding anniversary and considering I have never visited Cornwall before I fell in love with the place and the hotel. One word to describe the hotel and it's setting - stunning! The staff were so hospitable and accomodating, the rooms were luxurious, the food was mouthwatering and the facilities were out of this world. We have never holidayed in the U.K before preferring long haul destinations, but after a trip to the Scarlet we will definitely be visiting there (and Cornwall) again and soon......
