A return for Susan and I to Padstow area, in Cornwall, a place we visited regularly many years ago. Booked Bedruthan Hotel and Spa based on Website Photos and description. On arrival we were very disappointed, not the first class wonderful pool, palm trees depicted in Marketing Info. A 50 year old hotel, wonderful Location and view, furnished "funky" as per the era, kids everywhere. Main Pool not open, first day was disappointing and not what we were expecting, Parking an issue even in June and cant imagine July/August. The place grows on you, our sea view room, well worth extra, very kid friendly 20 years ago for us it would have been great, with lots to do, weather very good. Herring Restaurant excellent as were Buffet Breakfasts. This area of North Cornwall is beautiful, and view was terrific. Staff great. Shower tap was so tight couldnt turn shower off! Rooms need upgrade.
There is a sister hotel down the hill ,Scarlet, I think which is adult friendly and looked more to our taste. However there were a lot of very satisfied families at the Bedruthan.

Room Tip: Larger rooms at front with Ocean View I think have extra two small beds for kids. But worth paying even if its a couple to get the room size and view. If they had balconies it would have been very good.

Couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough. It is both child friendly and sophisticated. Every eventuality seems to have been covered and we didn't feel the need to leave the premises (except down to the beach) in the 5 days that we were there. The staff are friendly and helpful. Great food. Great dining room/cafe/restaurant set up. We loved the kids' entertainment between 6pm-7pm too

Room Tip: The villa suites open out directly onto the lawn and play area - great for letting the kids out to play whilst pottering around your room!

We have just returned from a weekend visit. As has been stressed many times this is an ideal hotel for families - very relaxed and friendly. The staff, without exception, are courteous and welcoming. The spa is lovely and a real oasis with first rate therapies. We ate in the Wild Cafe as we had children with us - informal, stylish environment. Food is nicely presented and good qualtiy but not a fine dining experience. We recommend the flexible dining package. Drinks, for a hotel, are very reasonably priced. The family room we stayed in while it could do with being refurbished was clean and spacious with a beautiful view and was comfortable for two adults and two children. Rooms are in the process of being refurbished. Our only gripe is that the large outdoor pool was closed and we weren't advised of this at the time of booking. It seems that it is closed due to a change in legislation regarding swimming pool depth meaning that it can only be used if manned by a lifeguard and we were advised that a lifeguard is only employed at peak season. There is an indoor pool, however the children wanted to be outside, it was a hot and sunny weekend, and it was the attraction of the outdoor pools that had influenced our booking as the children are strong swimmers. This meant that everyone had to squeeze into the small, shallow children's pool. As a result the seating area around the pool was packed and it was an uncomfortable two hours spent supervising children with nowhere to sit which was frustrating.

Room Tip: Family rooms are spacious; a blind pulls down between the children's section and adults' section. Sufficient room for two single beds in children's section. Sea view room worth the extra cost. Rooms that are not yet re-furbished look a little tired. Ask if there is a refurished room availabe. Second floor rooms have great views.

I have just returned from a 4 night stay while hosting a business event at Bedruthan Hotel. Can I just say..."wow!" It was a fantastic stay but most importantly, from the moment of arrival the hotel staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. I feel as if I have new friends in this spectacular coastal getaway. I can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Just look at the sea....not much else is necessary!

We recently stayed for 3 nights at the Bedruthen hotel with our 3 little boys. This hotel is really a fantastic place to stay with children, it is completely child friendly and the little things like the hotel restaurant being fully equipped with children's cutlery, plates, bowls and bibs makes things a lot easier! We were also impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel- it's spotless! The only negative point was the lack of air conditioning in the hotel, this is why I've given 4 out of 5. The service in the hotel is fantastic, as is the childcare on offer. We would like to say a special thank you to Natalie in childcare for looking after our boys and also to Josh in the Wild Café for your great service.
